From Rivals:

St. Frances Academy has churned out top defensive linemen for years and Smith could be the next one up. The defensive tackle is strong, quick and does a good job in pursuit. This year he'll be the focal point of the St. Frances defensive line and it will be interesting to see how he performs with the target on his back.

LSU, Miami, Penn State, Tennessee, USC and many others have already offered Smith and are tracking his development.

Another player who will be in town for that event is Maryland defensive lineman Darrion Smith. When he was here earlier this spring, he told us that Tennessee and Ohio State had the most momentum with him. It’s always a hard pull from that neck of the woods, but Tennessee seems to be a player for both kids out of that area.

Weird recruitment in that he doesn't seem to travel much and OSU doesn't seem to be pushing for him. Unclear if we are either.

Also don't understand the "It’s always a hard pull from that neck of the woods"....he's from Maryland

We honestly don’t get a lot of Maryland players in our history last one I remember was the safety last year, Dominic Bailey and Rico McCoy but he was from DC…maybe im off base but it’s never been a fertile state for us in terms of recruiting so maybe that is what AP is alluding to

Darrion Smith maintains Tennessee is high on his list, and he had an excellent time at 865 Live, but his decision timeline is something we are continuing to watch. He will take officials to Ohio State and Maryland in June, and they are undoubtedly Tennessee’s biggest competitors, but he doesn’t plan to return to Knoxville until the fall for a game.
