We have 50,000 in our stadium that cheer. The other 50k complain about the people cheering.

haha true... sadly.

I would love to see 100k fans yelling at the top of their lungs someday. That would completely deafen the opposing team... and make Neyland Stadium the loudest in all of college football. One can dream...

Don't think we are going to play the stadium. More worried about the team. You need a smaller stadium it helps for a home field advantage.

That rinky dink stadium actually holds ~59,500 counting the SRO area on the North side, has been sold out since 1999 and will soon one day be expanded to at least 65k.

And 127.2 decibels is nothing to lightly dismiss. That's louder than a Boeing 747 at take-off--for the best part of three hours in a tight contest since we are on defense more than most.

Why not just come and hear for yourself in 2013?

It's the proximity of the fans to the field that is killer. It sounds as if they are literally on top of you and the sound reverberates from the artificial turf into the canopy and back. The entire stadium is dug into a earthen hillock. There are no energy sapping features like repeated open air tunnels or other gaps. It's a sunken bowl of concrete sunk into the earth that the crowd enters down into from the rim.

sometimes it's not the size of the stadium that matters, it's the way you use it...

Oregon's stadium usually makes the list for loudest stadiums in the country, as does smaller venues like Lane Stadium in Blacksburg.

We can beat up on the Vol fan, you cannot. Go play at an air line or something and imagine you are at the game. That decibels stat is thrown around more than Le. James girlfriend.

Have you seen their facilities?

Theirs and Ok States are really vying to be "the best" in the nation. Of course Oregon has Nike Money, and OK State has T Boone. They are both outstanding. I hope Neyland will be rocking like it was in 06 for Cal.
