Lack of depth was the killer

Lack of a real coach was the killer.

Just like Florida last year.

It's only going to get worse.

Depth on the DL wouldn't have been an issue if our HC and OC hadn't decided to pack it in offensively and try to sit on a 17 point lead for nearly 3 quarters. They made it an issue by not pushing the lead and putting the game out of reach.

Defense was great. We got good pressure and got turnovers and everything. We set up lots of great field position for the offense to score but they never took full advantage of it.

The bad on defense was the nickel corner spot and colton jumper. The dude is a walk on and it shows. If he starts against florida then God help us. Also tackling the QB was piss poor. We could not wrap him up at all.

OU game plan was easy.. Need a play target Mosely or Jumper

After looking at the film the real culprit stands out. Our oline was swiss cheese after the first half. Now having some depth there would have helped but the fact that we are not so improved there over last year concerns me going forward.

lol. We'll be blaming depth and inexperience if Butch is here for 6 years. Unbelievable. Time to call a spade a spade.

In year 6, Butch will be working with his 3rd senior class and, make no mistake, he'll stil be telling us about the youth and inexperience of his football team. That's clearly part of his m.o. For the second time this week, he talked today about the 17 and 18 year old players on this team....when we literally have not one 17 year old on the team.

It's really beginning to get old. He needs to man up and accurately portray his football team. Yes, we have a lot of youth, but a lot of that youth has a lot of valuable experience and consists of some of our best players at their positions...Hurd, Robertson, Barnett.

Additionally, we have a ton of upperclassmen to go with that youth. I really wish he'd stop with the "whoa is us mentality" and take a more aggressive approach. He has done an amazing job of turning over an awful roster in the 3 classes....he has a ton of talent across the board....act like it.

We have known this since last season

Running an up tempo offense when we should have been burning clock to rest the D was the killer

Coaching 101

If they'd sat on the lead, Count, and OK still found a way to score two TDs and tie it up, you might be berating the coaches for being too conservative. Heck, there are a ton of VN denizens accusing them of that now, even when it isn't true...can you imagine if it were?

Bottom line is, there were many ways for us to win that game...we were very evenly matched against OK. One more key play that went our way, and we'd have won in regulation. Burning the clock in the 4th quarter is just one of the many ways it could've been different.

Snap and clear.

Putting your fingers in your ears and yelling nananana will not make what he says untrue. When you have freshmen, although talented in your two deep, you are young.

So every team in the SEC is young? Is Oklahoma young because they just started a couple freshmen on their OL? At what point does a team have a good mix of young players, experienced players and upperclassmen? Or is it just "hey, we have 53.726% of players who have never ridden our team bus, so not only are we one of the youngest teams in America, but we're actually younger today than we were last week?"

At what point does someone say hey buddy, stop talking about your team being all 17 and 18 year olds, it's not true.

Youre good with just ignoring the truth about our roster, especially as how it compares to the rosters of the teams we play, and accepting Butch's propaganda about how young our team is? Ok, it's you're prerogative. I for one am tired of hearing about it. I'm hardly the one with his fingers in his ears.

We were getting it done on defense but 3 penalties cost us that game. They happened when we had them stopped but those penalties extended the drives. The pass interference in the end zone was B.S! That ball was uncatchable. 2 of those penalties were the nail in the coffin. A new starting MLB hopefully will solve that.
