Florida Legislature could declare pornography a health risk | News | heraldcourier.com

I guess it was only a matter of time before the President's lack of understanding and respect for the First Amendment would leak over to the religious nuts.

That this passed 18-1 is quite disheartening.

This gave me pause. Porn probably is bad for us. But so is smoking, drinking, eating Big Macs, fries and a thick chocolate shake. So what? It's not like they could (or would) ban any of these things. In fact - hold on to your hats fiscal conservatives - state declaration may actually enable people to get free or lower-cost aid to help "addicts" deal with this "health risk" (free post-op Bruce Jenner posters available in the lobby, sir).

The whole thing is goofy, and given it's Florida, it's probably the net result of a bunch of old retired wives who are sick and tired of their wrinkly-assed husbands jerking off at night and disturbing their beauty sleep.

Porn is a vice just like alcohol, drugs or anything else. As long as it doesn't create a problem for anyone it shouldn't be an issue. I watch porn, hell my wife enjoys watching on occasion, no big deal. If it impacts my marriage then it's a problem.

You and the wife watch it together?

Definitely not, but it's a double edged sword. If she walks in on me watching porn and I'm doing what I'm doing, then I'm a pervert. If I walk in on her in the same situation, I think it's pretty much the hottest thing ever.

Nah VN is his porn...... he is probably at his cpu right now..... oh yeah septic, oh yeah..... that’s how I like it.... tell them trump is bad.

I don't think trump is bad necessarily (in a intentionally malicious sense). I just think he's a low rent, self serving clown that lacks anything resembling couth.

The bonus is that I get to watch guys like DC vol (see above) get twisted by the sht I say about him.

You just described pretty much everyone in Congress as well.

Well, that opens up all kinds of interesting contradictions. First, the SC has pretty much said any action (forget verbal or written transmission of intelligent thought) is "free speech" and, therefore, protected. Second, the SC never mentioned that potential harm had a role in determining the propriety or impropriety of "free speech" - even when some of it involved fire, bricks, and fists. Third, Key West. Fourth, while I'm all for states rights, we know how that went last time.

The other interesting aspect is that of root cause. Consider this statement from the article.

"The resolution spells out those risks and several others, including an increased demand for prostitution. It also says children are being exposed to pornography at a younger age because of advancements in technology. To emphasize that point, he held up his smartphone, saying children have access to pornography 24 hours a day."

To me the far more important point would be that of not allowing kids to grow up thinking that a smartphone is a natural body appendage. Who knows, they might learn to communicate in something resembling face to face conversations rather than random bursts.

They also declared UCF National Champs. It's almost like a cloud of narcotics has engulfed the state.

How does that make you feel? They were undefeated and they did beat a team that beat you guys.

Who would have thought UCF would have more National Championships than UGA this century?

I'm going to allow it.

They have a banner and rings, hard to argue against.

Unfortunately. There's money to be made on regulating content, too. Imagine all the groups willing to pump money into "campaign" coffers to protect their interests. And, then, there's the prospect of a whole new Nanny State bureaucracy ... the regulators of content ... and maybe thought police. All that legislative plunder in waiting sure beats the ire from lost service faced by companies like Verizon, Sprint, etc.

When some government agency actually manages to end what seems like nonstop robo calls to my phones and constant hacks compromising personal finances and identity, then perhaps threats by similar legislative clowns seeking to control the either wouldn't seem so ludicrous.

I don't get the fake rage.

Just because something is declared a health risk doesn't mean its going to be banned. Look at alcohol for example..its a health risk..education is provided growing up about the risks..warning labels on bottles.

Dont worry dude. The Jesus police aren't going to bust down your door because you jerked it to some Japanese hermaphrodite porn. You're safe bro.
