It wasn't the least bit shrewd. It says that this bs pandering by Obama is somehow correct and that this what tax about to be levied is the right thing to do. AIG needs those producers and letting them walk is far more harmful than anything else that Obama can even consider doing to the company.

Now tell me how agreeing to this new paradigm is shrewd?

i wonder how many lawyers feel bad about charging 500-100 an hour and offer to return their money. i'm sure not many.

how pathetic, typical libs. they authorize the bonuses, it comes out in the press and suddenly they're angry. this administration is purely a joke.

unless they thought the AG of NY would release their names. remember the aig CEO got death threats.

Major corp CEO's regularly get death threats. When they have that many people under them they're bound to piss some off.

Still, if any of those individuals can justify the bonus, they should keep it. If not, let common sense kick in and do the right thing.

Obama didn't force anybody to do anything. In fact, show me one piece of evidence he is in favor of taxing the bonuses. Pelosi, Frank, and Co. are the ones with pitchforks goating these people to give back bonuses. UT IE has it right here IMO. If they are earned, keep it if you want. If they are not, give it back. I don't see how anybody in the financial products division, at least the leadership, can justify keeping a dime.

I'll never understand why anyone would give a rats ass about the $165 million in bonuses and never get the least amount of accounting for where the $173 billion went.

you're so naive. the ignorance coming from you mind is amazing. if you think that "the muslim" didn't force anyone to do this is so naive. he knew the bonuses were in the bill, he probably told dodd to put them in there. i mean aig gave him and the dems millions in contributions and now they're really screwing them. which i'm glad, that's what they get for giving contibutions to traitorous socialists.

i very much doubt the people who gave it back thought they didn't deserve it.

You're probably right, but then we should forego the clamoring about keeping "top talent". If they are giving back deserved money then they should be fired immediately and sent to work with joevol at the packing plant on the night shift.

Well I don't guess where the $173 billion went matters that much if we can just man up and face the growing global CO2 crisis!

That way China can have cheap labor and cheap energy too while our average household energy bill will go up $4 to $5,000 a year and manufacturing will be practically nonexistant, but looking on the bright side, America can become a quaint tourist destination.

that little prick Barney Frank (pun intended) said that he wouldn't guarantee the confidentiality of the names of AIG bonus recipients, even if they had to be subpoenaed.

that man is a menace, his family has ties to the New Jersey mob, and needs to be unceremoniously dumped by the voters in 2010.

No problem. Set up a media blitz to go on the Today show, Nancy Grace, and 60 Minutes to tell America you received a bonus and why you deserve it. Explain how your role at AIG was critical and your services added X dollars to the bottom line. If you hadn't performed your magic the bailout would have cost the taxpayers Y billion more dollars. If you can't do that, then you probably don't deserve the bonus.

You'll come out smelling like rose while giving the finger to the politicians.

"Reckless, Outrageous and Unjustified" were the words he used about the bonuses. But hey, you are correct, he did not "force" anybody to do anything.
