That article was pretty good in concept, but contained several statistical errors, mainly that Texas has been to four Final Fours, not three, and Barnes making two Sweet Sixteens in the 64-team era wouldn't increase Tennessee's total by 50%. We made the Sweet Sixteen in 2000, 2007, 2008, 2010, and 2014.

You'll have to excuse him, he's still trying to figure out how Barnes had time to land two commitments while getting his new soaking tub plated in 24k gold. You know, since he hasn't been trying to recruit and all.

The article author, along with several others, appear to have modest expectations for Barnes...as if he's in the cool-down mode of his career.

It could go that way. Or...Barnes may take the longhorn's snub. embrace the new opportunity, and hit a new stride. And 61 ain't ancient, dammit.

In 1981, the tournament was not a 64-team tournament. The author specifically noted "in the 64 team era", which is why I excluded that season.
