Florida Hires Mike White

You're coaching situation isn't any different than ours; football and basketball coaches that haven't proven anything at their current locations.

What I DO know is our AD has been making hires that land UF National Championships and SEC Championships at a dizzying rate, and that win us the SEC All-Sports Trophy every single year.

Lol compare resumes between Barnes and White and get back to me. How many final fours does White have? Hell, how many NCAATS has he been to? Hint, both questions have the same answer. How about how many first round NBA picks? I'll have to check, but I think Barnes wins that one too.

Let's also not forget that SEC > CUSA but BIGXII > SEC, so all in all I'd say between the two Barnes is more likely to be successful. White might be good, but he could just as easily flame out. So once again, I'll roll with Barnes.

P.S. I have no idea why you pulled football coaches into this, but I would trade bball coaches in a second before I would trade Butch for Nussmeier.

When it comes to resumes, they no longer mean anything. Barnes and White are now starting with a clean slate.

First of all, thanks for the compliment!

Secondly, if you believe resumes do count, then I pity Barnes when we face Pearl next season!

And as bad as that was, he still beat Butch... TWICE.:whistling:

UF had a grand total of 9 National Championships prior to Foley being promoted to AD in the 1991-92 season; UF has won 25 more in the 24 years since.

I remember 5. I don't care about gymnastics. Thanks for reminding me that Muschamp beat a team that Butch inherited with no NFL players aside from Oline.

Anything else or is the only other Gator fan in this thread going to continue liking your posts?

You're right. Vols should've hired the coach from Georgia Southern.

Since then Foley has had two probable HOF coaches leave him for greener pastures. That may be affecting
his decision-making.

What? Yes they do. You don't think Barnes will use Durant, TJ Ford, etc on the recruiting trail? His ncaat numbers will be used too. Good and bad.

Nobody knows what Miller makes iirc, although I am sure it's not $2m, however ESPN reported Mack & Miller were both gonna command $3m+ and that Foley didn't even reach out.

He had no reason to. He got the guy he wanted with great ties to the state. Foley has never gone out and gotten established, seasoned coaches. His mantra is to get the up and comers, much like us. He just manages to not miss as often as us. Muschamp, as bad as he was, was better than Dooley, O'Sullivan is a top 5 baseball coach, Donovan was obviously a HR, Meyer's a top 2 coach etc.

I agree, and really like White as he was he I was rooting for last go around, but as a Tennessee fan I am happy with the hire for Florida. Do I think he will bomb out, no I dont, but if he follows the path of BD it'll be 3 years before he has Florida in the NCAAT again and competing in the SEC. As a Tennessee fan, again, this is a good thing IMO. Outside of UK, the SEC is wide open, you've got A&M, LSU and Arky with talent but coaches who have notoriously underachieved. Other than that, yes you've got some good coaches, but looking ahead what is there gonna be, 1, possibly 2 preseason top 25 teams in the league?

For a coach trying to rebuild like Barnes, he may be able to squeeze a few more wins out of league play than he would have had say Billy Donovan stayed at Florida, I guess simply put that's more or less my point.

So happy they didn't get Archie from UD. It's only a matter of time until he leaves UD but hopefully he stays out of the SEC because he can be better than Sean Miller if he gets a job at a big time program (consider me a very bias source though)

:eek:lol: You don't care about gymnastics? Amusing coming from fans who puff out their chests over women's basketball.

In any event, it's hardly just the gymnastics 3-peat that's impressive; since Foley became AD, we've won Nattys in...

Speaks volumes that the only pastures greener than UF, in these 2 cases, happen to be the NBA and Team USA National Gymnastics program.

Assuming that any one poster has the same views as other stuff you've randomly seen from a fanbase is one of the dumber argument fallacies you can make. So because some UT fans are big on women's bball then all UT fans must care about all women's sports? Makes total sense.

Actually Foley failed on 2 of 3 football coaches he hired. Jury's out on #4.

He hit grand slams with Meyer and Donovan.

I do not care about any other college athletics unless it's UT.
