FL House candidate calls for hanging

I think respect for the office should be above catcalls at speeches in the House chambers and running for office on a platform of hanging a president.

Guess that makes me old fashioned.

It's hard to continue to respect the office when those who hold it treat it so disrespectfully. A POTUS should act like a POTUS if he wants respect.

I seriously doubt anyone would truly hang Obama. You're taking one man's bluster and running with it to suit your agenda. All that's really being shown is the frustration people have with Obama's failures.

I've seen plenty of Republicans insinuate Obama is the antichrist.

Which one is worse?

When the only intended effect is to drive the drama and distract from reality, it's all the same. Reality is both parties put themselves above the country and anything they can do to get attention and/or support, they'll do.

Agreed. But Obama has been attacked twice as hard as any other president. Some of it is justified, and some of it is just absolute "he's a socialist mix of Hitler and the antichrist" bull****.

I disagree that he's been attacked twice as hard. I think the level of ferocity has maintained the same, but each side has had to up the rhetoric as it's become increasingly harder to "shock" the American public. I don't think either side believes most of what they say, they just want people to hear them say it. Even attention whores have to up their game over time.

And I think we're all to blame for it because:

1.) We enjoy it.
2.) We allow it to happen.

And I'm not sure anything can be done about it. This is the age we live in.

What's not justified? He's done nothing but lie & hasn't made good on any of his promises. He wastes billions of taxpayer dollars every day. His "golden egg" legislation has been nothing short of a disaster & a debacle.

I would argue that respect for the office would hold standards for the person occupying it.

Twice as hard? What? The press made fun of Bush every chance they got and go out of their way to protect Obama. They hammered Bush to release his college transcripts but won't investigate Obama's refusal to release his.

Well, the right's temper tantrum over that certainly justifies shouting out "You lie!" on the floor of the House during the State of the Union and calling for his execution.

And that is what this has been. Look at the comments in this thread. Like a bunch of four year olds threatening to hold your breath and stomp your feet if you don't get McDonald's tonight for dinner.

Let's see Bush was hung and burned in effigy many times by many liberal groups, don't remember any condemnation coming from the Democratic party. If I remember correctly, wasn't it Waxman, Boxer or one of them that called for Bush to be tried at the Hague? Lets not forget Dennis Kucinich and Robert Wexler filing articles of impeachment.

As it turns out the guy was right, Obama was lying and has continued to do so.

Like the Democrats aren't any better. You're defending a man who refuses to make compromises and extend an arm to the other side of the table.

if you paid attention from 2000-2008 then there's no way you make that claim. It started with a "stolen election" and went rapidly downhill from there (slight pause after 9/11 which was also experienced by the first black pres when he took office)

Your boy whines & cries & blames everyone else for his troubles like a three y o. He takes no responsibility for his lousy policies that don't work. He holds no one accountable for their gross failures while being under his authority. But rather promotes them to a better position in government. Remember, you are defending a community organizer that has no business running the country. His policies don't work. He lies to Americans everyday. He lacks the balls & the experience of showing leadership skills while in office.

I think that entire approach was spoiled in the first budget battle when Obama and Boehner had reached a deal, but the TP balked and threatened to oust Boehner. It became clear then that the GOP leadership in the House a) did not actually control the caucus; and b) could not be trusted to follow through on the deals they had agreed to.

I would say that he's only parroting what a narrow range of right wing extremists are saying, but I guess that depends on your definition of "narrow range."

Not only do you jump straight to race but you imply he can't think for himself and is simply following his white masters.

Hmmm, who is the racist here?

amazing how much you and the lefty chattering class try to wring out of the "you lie" incident.

Google Bush should be hung or executed and you'll be busy for quite some time.

This thread is about the guy calling for Obama to be executed. Can we not all agree that it was totally inappropriate and offensive? Why you got to go wha wha wha, give Bush some attention?

Yes totally inappropriate and offensive. Why then your first response was to tie him to white right wingers is puzzling...predictably that was followed by shots a Boehner and the right in general.

And yet, I don't call for Boehner to be executed...
