Neyland's game maxims set the bar too high. They'll never be topped.

Sometimes I get nit picky, but the part about carrying the fight for 60 minutes has me looking over my shoulder. With overtime it should be changed to reflect that, "for the entire game", works for me.

I always liked, "Give him six!" A Ga radio guy used that at least once, I thought that was out of line the one time I heard it from him.

This old cheer from my high school days still brings a tear of nostalgia to my eye:

"Rah, rah, ree - kick 'em in the knee.

Rah, rah, rass kick - 'em in the (other knee)!"

Here's a quote from the late, great Gene Autry when he owned the California Angels:

"Grantland Rice, the legendary sportswriter once wrote, "It's not whether you win or lose, it's how you play the game." Well, Grantland Rice can go to hell as far as I'm concerned! I want to win."

Although debatable as to whether this was actually said by John McKay:

Media: “What did you think of your team’s execution, Coach?”

McKay: “I’m in favor of it.”

Speaking of McKay, that's my favorite one too.

Here's the next best one, "We didn't tackle well today. But we made up for it by not blocking."
