The more you spend, the more fun the players have. The more fun the players have, the more they will talk UT up to prospects. The more you spend on the band, cheerleaders, etc. the more spirit and publicity you have. The more you spend the more the city fathers want to invite you to return and other cities want you for the future. The more you can spend and breakeven or make a little profit, the better off you are in selling the program and recruiting while keeping the fiscal house in order.

How do they complain about cost when the school still managed to walk away with a profit?! That's idiotic!

Spent about $1,000 to ship two of the player's luggage back to Knoxville because they forgot them and a piece of AV equipment that the staff left behind.

Also paid for a rental car or two that was rented by staff expecting to be going to the Liberty or Music City Bowl.

Paid for a bunch of spouses to take the trip. Didn't say whether or not the employees reimbursed those costs to UT or, if not, whether it was or will be added to the AD employees' W-2s.

Who cares, we won and we turned a profit to boot on the trip.

By the way, depending upon insurance values of the AV equipment, weight, box deminsion, etc a $1000 is not that much freight. I have paid a lot more in the course of business, multiple times.

The spouses should have gotten a free ride. As many of them are "football widows" easily from August till the NLI is signed in February by players. They earned a free ride on the schools dime. JMO TIFWIW

Dustin Dopiriak must be taking crap stirring lessons from John Adams. Kid could one day be a decent sports writer, if and only if he stays away from that walking p---- with ears.
