Siap.

Stephen Hargis, Chattanooga Times Free Press, was interviewed by Finebaum this afternoon.

He said sources (Blackburn, potential coaching staff Gruden has contacted, among others) indicate that since Butch was fired, a push is underway to clear hurdles in getting a deal done soon with Gruden.

He said Gruden is trying to ensure he can assemble a coaching and support staff that gives him high confidence in quickly getting up to speed on college rules, recruiting, coaching and achieving success.

Hargis said the odds have risen subtantially this week to about 50/50 that Gruden will be UTs next coach.

GoVols247 was told by two sources Thursday that first-year Tennessee athletic John Currie flew to Tampa, Fla., Wednesday night, where Gruden lives and works out of his infamous Fired Football Coaches Association office.

Talk inside the Tennessee athletic department has led some to believe that the Vols have made a pitch to Gruden, the Monday Night Football color analyst and former Super Bowl winning head coach with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Sources have also said that the Vols have given Gruden a deadline on making a decision. If the decision isn’t in Tennessee’s favor, Currie could turn his attention to Mississippi State’s Dan Mullen.

Mullen, we reported on Wednesday, is believed to have reached out to the Vols multiple times to express his interest in the opening.

GoVols247 reported Monday that Gruden had reached out to three former Tennessee players and coaches — Appalachian State linebacker Dale Jones and Florida State assistants Randy Sanders and Jay Graham — to gauge their interest in potentially joining his staff, should he actually take the job this time.

The fact that Hubbs is chasing rumors at the airport tells me that he, along with most everybody else, has no idea what's happening.

Odd that Calhoun's cannot 100% confirm or deny that CJG and PM were in their private room.

UCF coach Scott Frost disputes report he is close to Nebraska deal

UCF football coach Scott Frost on Saturday shot down a report that he was nearing a seven-year, $35 million deal with his alma mater, Nebraska.

"That's just totally false," Frost said following No. 15 UCF's 45-19 win over Temple. "I haven't paid any attention to all of these whirlwind rumors and everything, and I'm not going to. I got an unbelievable team I'm coaching and I can promise you that no decision has been made."

A Bleacher Report tweet posted Friday night said that Frost, a former Huskers quarterback, was "close" to a deal to replace Mike Riley at Nebraska...
