The people in your scenario must be pretty stupid to not want security or education simply because there’s no government.

They will most definitely want both, and will create a system to provide both. A system we call government.

Nor do I. Like with my kids, I love them all equally.

I'll pick parks since it's the most obscurely trivial.

Great.

Btw, daughter landed in London Tuesday night.

Who fills the void of parks (no parks) in the absence of government? Private citizens, groups of people banded together (small g'ment) and capitalism would provide.

In essence we wouldn't be without government. The government would form spontaneously even if it's on a micro scale.

I hope she has a blast. My daughters visited Brussels over the weekend.

I worry about capitalist controlling Yellowstone National Park and the Great Smokey Mountains.

California needs to be cutting expenditures, not growing them. Unless their goal is speeding up their economic failure.

If anything, i have more disdain for socialist Rs than i do sDs. The Rs are hypocritical. Speak one wsy and behave another. Ds do it some but at least Bernie had the balls to be honest about whay he is.

I was watching the ID channel the other night and these two sisters started a company that dealt with the government.... They were selling items that they charged less than 20 dollars and charged 900,000 dollars in shipping costs.... They weren’t caught for ten years until they accidentally sent a duplicate receipt.... trump won’t cut spending but I’m glad he is cutting down these departments.... make them actually operate within means.

Why? Like most of the federal .gov, it should be run by private enterprise and the oversight should be by the .gov. There is no need to have federal employees cleaning toilets in the national parks. Especially when they are getting taxpayer funded salaries and retirement perks. TSA is another prime example. FAA is yet another.

If it passes, i hope they lose all federal funding. It's fine if Cali citizens want to do this but the rest of the country doesn't need to subsidize it.

Agree, if cali taxpayers want to pay for it fine, don't add another huge program to the federal government credit card. The interest on the national debt is a large slice of the budget. Cali is the world's sixth largest economy they can absorb the cost.

They control golf courses, theme parks, and such with great success. Yes?

They do, and many people are priced out of enjoying those things. I golf on public courses 90% of the time myself.

If you would feel better with The Great Smokey Mountains being in the hands of a private corporation than in the hands of the federal government then we have identified the exact spot at which we will always disagree.

Wait a minute my friend. You asked what fills the void in the absence. I gave you a filler. You may not like it or agree. But there are other options.

With that said, I am not in favor of no government. I'm in favor of greatly reduced size and scope of federal governments.

This is a primary duty of government, agreed.

My position is that society would almost immediately reject the alternative and re-establish government. But I see where you're coming from. Personally, I would like to reduce the size of the military by 2% each of the next 20 years.

Good start, not enough. And so much more to cut in the budget available.

I'd love to see them do a zero based budget. Start at zero and line item each expense. Get rid of the % increases every year.

I would love to see them directly vote on these line items with the dollar figure included.

Department of Department Stores spends 500 million on clothes hangars. All in favor of this budgetary item raise your hand, all racist bigots who hate freedom and against this budgetary item raise the rebel flag.

Oh hell no. That would be a massive cluster flop. Just have the department heads start at zero and build the budget.
