Still have one more regular season shot at #10 WVU (in Waco) and two shots at #2 Kansas before the BIG XII Tournament.

Does anyone watch the Friday night games on ESPN2/ESPNU? It's kind of like the Friday night college football games except these schools are even smaller and more obscure. Occasionally a P5 conference will have a Friday night game, like the Pac-12 has had some before on FS1 and CBSSN sometimes shows games, but usually it's Horizon League or MAAC teams.

I don't tune in as much as I do for Friday night college football games, but I'll watch every now and then.

The AP Top 25 Poll | NCAA Men's Basketball

Baylor drops from #1 to #6 in both polls after a road loss at #10 WVU (now #7) and a road win at #25 KState (now unranked). The Bears next game is at home tomorrow night against 7-9 Texas. The whorns leading scorer has been indefinitely suspended (missed 3 games thus far) and three other players not expected to suit up (???).

Is Shaka as Smart as Charlie was Strong? What a mess they have going down the road on I-35...even there baseball team is crap now.

Villanova jumps #2 Kansas (lol) top claim the top spot.

Kim Mulkey's Lady Bears remain at #2 in both polls behind Darth Vader...errr...UConn. 6'4" Lauran Cox was named BIG XII Fr of the Week after posting back to back double/doubles (in mop up duty) while splitting time with 6'7" Kalani Brown (daughter of former NBA player PJ Brown) and 6'5" Beatrice Mompremier.

Two Lady Bears commits were named to the 2017 McDonald's All-American Team: PG Alexis Morris and SG Deauzya Richards. Four Lady Vols commits were also named to the team: W Rennia Davis, PG Anastasia Hayes, C Kasiyahna Kushkitual (say that name fast 10 times...girl is gonna need a nick name for PxP announcer) and G Evina Westbrook.

I found this post on another forum to be interesting:

There must not be 25 good teams in the nation because -- and humor me here -- South Carolina was 24th last week. They beat 19th ranked Florida at home by 4 and got pounded by 16 against Kentucky and they moved up one spot. Florida lost both games this week, at South Carolina and at home against Vanderbilt, who has a losing record overall, and are still in the poll at 25.

Two More Top 10 Teams Went Down Last Night

#5 Baylor 66 Texas Tech 61

Ga Tech 78 #6 FSU 56

USC 84 #8 UCLA 76

#11 Butler 61 Seton Hall 54

Georgetown 71 #16 Creighton 51

#25 Florida 106 LSU 71

*Looks like it's time for LSU to fire another coach.

*Gonna be tuff for Georgetown to fire Thompson III now (unless it's for body of work...lack of).

*FSU...WTF??? Ga Tech gettin' better!

*My Bears survive Tech and are off to Oxford on Saturday for the BIG XII/SEC Challenge game against Ole Miss.

*Looks like Tubby left enough talent (unlike Bobby and Pat Knight did) in Lubbock for the Raider Rash to go dancing, again.

1. RPI Baylor SOS 7
48. RPI Tennessee SOS 184

Looks like the Vols can make the dance if they finish the SEC regular season strong and make a little noise in the SEC Tournament (one more win against Kentucky would be nice).

Now that Barnes appears to have the program headed in the right direction he needs to step up next season's OOC schedule...for SOS reasons.

It's tough sledding at the top.

If Gonzaga gets the top ranking tomorrow then most likely nobody will sniff that spot the remainder of the regular season. I can see my Bears moving up to #2 just in time to go to Kansas on Wednesday. A blowout win in the land of Dorothy and Toto could alter the rankings...I doubt that blowout happens though.

College Sports: Selection Committee has Baylor as a one-seed in March Madness Bracket Preview | SportsDay

The Selection Committee released its March Madness Bracket Preview on Saturday morning and has Baylor as a one-seed and the No. 3 overall team in the country.

Though Baylor (21-3) is the No. 6 team in the AP rankings, the Selection Committee likely felt that Baylor's strength of schedule merited one of the top-four spots in the tournament. The Bears are No. 1 in the country in RPI, which measures teams' strength of schedule and is one of the primary tools the committee uses to choose tournament teams.

Baylor's strength of schedule was helped by four top-25 wins during non-conference play. The Bears beat Oregon, Michigan State, Louisville and Xavier before Big 12 play started and also beat a tough VCU team.

Three Men’s Basketball Coaches Are Naismith Semifinalists
March 03, 2017

Big 12 men’s basketball is well-represented on the list of 10 semifinalists for the Naismith College Coach of the Year. Three mentors – Scott Drew, Bill Self and Bob Huggins – have been recognized. The Big 12 is the only conference in the nation with multiple head coaches on the semifinalist list.

Huggins has led the Mountaineers to 23 wins so far in 2016-17 and a national ranking of No. 10 in the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches’ polls. Earlier this season, Huggins became the 10th NCAA Division I coach to win 800 games. With wins over No. 1 Baylor and No. 2 Kansas, WVU became the first team since Indiana in 2011-12 to defeat an AP No. 1 and No. 2 in the same season.

Self has guided No. 1 Kansas to the Big 12 regular season championship for the 13th consecutive season. The Jayhawks have at least 27 wins for the 10th season during his tenure in Lawrence and KU has posted a 5-0 record versus teams ranked in the Associated Press top 10 this year. Self became the ninth-fastest coach in NCAA history to record 600 career wins and also became the winnings coach in Allen Fieldhouse history during the current campaign.

Drew led the Bears to the first No. 1 ranking in school history after being unranked in the preseason top 25 polls. Baylor has six victories over top 25 foes and has nine wins versus opponents in the top 50 of the latest RPI.

From March 3-13, a national voting academy will submit ballots to narrow the list to four finalists, which will be announced on the morning of Thursday, March 16 via Twitter (@Naismithtrophy). From there the final round of voting runs from March 20-30. Fans have a say in the overall voting process. From 9:00 a.m. CT on March 20 through 10:59 p.m. CT on March 31, fans can cast their ballot at naismithtrophy.com/vote. One vote per person per category per day. Fan vote will account for 5% of the total vote.

The awarding of the 2017 Naismith Men's College Coach of the Year award will be at the Naismith Awards annual Final Four Awards Brunch on Sunday, April 2 in Scottsdale, Arizona.
