Countries that democratize too quickly without the necessary economic and institutional reforms usually fall to dictatorships and become despotic regimes. Iraq is a prime example of a country where democracy was instituted far too quickly. Democracy is not always a good thing, in some cases it can be a very bad thing.

Wait, why should we be concerned about how democracy is administered in another country? Why not be focused on restoring rights and freedoms here at home?

Because the US has made Iraq and other such countries it's own problem by suggesting that it is the arbiter of morality and the protector of freedom. Plus the US has a vested interest in trying to institute well-functioning liberal democracies in the Middle East so as to reduce terroristic and fundamentalist activities.

I don't think the US will ever fix that problem. We've been there long enough. Time to cut our losses and bring the guys back home.

Hillary and Jeb are about the same level of meh for me. Don't think either of them are what we need. But... It will probably come down to them. Sadly.
