2 for 1? Blackburn & Fulmer?

Larry (LWSVOL) said that he didn't believe that Blackburn would go for it. Considering how he's been jerked around, I wouldn't be surprised if that were true.

LWS has gone on a two week vacation and was forbidden to use electronics :), so you'll have to search for his post. I think it was on Monday, but I sure wouldn't swear to it.

This isn't a socialist country. Nobody wants to work for "shared leadership".

There should be one decider. One head to chop. One person to lead.

If this hurts your feelings, please take tomorrow off of work to deal with your feelings. It's the millennial way.

According to the UT Administration no one is currently being considered. The search firm is only under consideration at this point.

This notion was discussed at some length on the Sports Animal this afternoon. Hyams, Wilkerson and most callers seemed to think it was very possible, but Hyams is still sticking to no decision until at least March. Says nothing will happen until Davenport is fully onboard, Feb. 15.

If this was discussed on that show, I want credit from them for reading my (our) thread on VolNation and making it their own. They do this crap in Nashville all the time. Of course, "thanks Jimmy" would steal someone elses plan and try to own it all while being late to the table

I mentioned this and got shot down. However, I'm not bitter. I have another idea. Why don't they turn the administration of the entire athletic program over to us on volnation? Seriously, we know what should be done and we have the balls to do it!! (Only half blue font)

We should take the department by storm. Of course we know what to do....we are the program. Have been our whole lives. Without us, they are nothing dammit

Baloney!! No there wouldn't. Blackburn and Fulmer would be a perfect fit. Make this happen, for God's sake.

I said that there would be a lot of cooks in the football kitchen. So are you saying that Fulmer, Butch, and Blackburn aren't all football guys or can you not interpret a simple statement?

David Blackburn has proven himself fully capable of doing the job. Paying 2 people to do a 1 person job is almost as idiotic as taking 5 months to almost hire a search firm to report to a committee that can then advise a chancellor on how to do her job.

Quit wasting time and money and just do your job.

Sidenote: Fulmer would serve as an advisory role for free if asked.

I swear to god some of you people look for any reason to get political. I wish Freak would create a forum for you guys to hang out in and get it all out of your systems.

Win-Win: Fulmer can focus on football and fund raising. Maybe even give a hand in practice every now and then. He knows a thing or three about OL coaching.

Good idea. Everyone loves a boss who tells them how to do their job!

No one is suggesting that Fulmer/Blackburn micromanage. But, are you suggesting Butch has no one over him? Over seeing what he's doing? Should their be zero administrators and he just be left to run the whole thing by himself? This would create a potential rogue leader.

But, your comment basically already described Butch. He does what you stated...........

I couldn't see Blackburn doing it. He's basically taking a lesser position to someone with no one experience running an athletic department. If anything Blackburn should be AD with Fulmer fulfilling some role to help him.

We need a damn committee. Someone get Freak to make a committee.

Jon Gilbert, Senior Associate AD, leaves for Southern Miss. Expected to also take Mike Ward with him.

Making room for the Blackburn/Fulmer combo?

What is the possibility that Blackburn will be hired and Fulmer brought in as an assistant to the AD, something like Football Operations?

Similar role that Holloway has with student relations.....

Fulmer would be in charge of all things football for Blackburn in terms of recruiting, coaching evaluations, etc.......

At Fulmer's age, it would be more ideal than taking on full blown AD responsibilities, and still hiring him for his knowledge of the game, program and overall interest of UT football

If Blackburn is the AD, wouldn't he be the one to hire Fulmer? I think you hire Blackburn, discuss the idea with him and if it's something he wants, you let HIM make the hire. You don't bring somebody on and say "you have to have this guy as a member of your support staff."
