It'll be interesting to see how King's career progresses. I probably have more trepidation about him as a prospect than most posters here simply because his numbers at the HS level were so modest, especially for someone with his size and purported speed.

King's junior-year stats: 78 carries for 413 yards (5.3 YPC) and 3 TDs...24 total tackles

Senior-year stats: 104 carries for 849 yards (8.2 YPC) and 10 TDs...8 of 27 passing for 187 yards, 3 TDs & 2 INTS...41 total tackles, 11 TFL, 3.5 sacks.

His rushing numbers as a senior look pretty good until you see that he gained most of those yards against two terrible teams (Carver-Atlanta & Redan). In Dunwoody's other 8 games King ran for just 359 yards on 64 carries (5.6 YPC) and 3 TDs. Not bad, of course, but not especially impressive either.

King was Dunwoody's 7th-leading tackler but I don't know how much action he actually saw on defense.

Generally, you expect an SEC-caliber talent to be more productive than King was at the HS level, but l've followed recruiting long enough to know that a player's HS numbers may belie his talent & future production in college. It's entirely possible that he was just poorly utilized at Dunwoody. And if he proves to have good hands and be an effective blocker, he could help us out quite a bit down the road.

Justin King -- The versatile King was recruited as an athlete, and he's gotten a variety of looks already. He's worked at linebacker, fullback, tight-end and as the trigger-man in the Wildcat package. He's leaving camp as the second-team fullback and should see ample action on special teams as well.

Like to hear that. We'll all be giddy in this forum when a freshman makes a big special teams play haha.
