“But I got to stop wishin', got to go fishin' Down to rock bottom again Just a few friends, just a few friends” (pictures)

No pictures from today but I went out in the same creek and did pretty well again with the trout. 7 keepers and would have been 8 but lost the biggest one at the boat (as always). I was about to steer myself into the grass and he was barely hooked. Can't seem to lock down the reds still though, I'm guessing they're out in deeper water in the river right now. Only caught a couple rats on shrimp and cut mullet.

Probably not too many more weekends where the trout fishing will be this good in the shallow creeks for a while in my area. Once it warms up a little more they'll be few and far between until the fall. Might have to take a couple days off work to fill up the freezer while I can.
We didn't have a lot of luck with the reds. Guide told me it'd be a few more weeks before they really got going over where we were. I'm going to try to go back later, want some reds, and want to catch a snook. He said they get going in summer and fall in that area.

That’s called “fishin “
Makes you know next will be better

Went down to st. Augustine Sunday to try some surf fishing. Haven't been going as much the past few months because it's been real poor.. or I've lost my touch

It's safe to say I didn't find my touch and simply had to endure a beautiful day of relaxing. It was the type of trip where you tell you friends you were "just out scouting not really fishing" right joe?

Better than nothing!!

Went out creek fishing again today with the idea to troll for trout until I find a school and sit on them with live shrimp float rigs. It was pretty slow and needless to say things didn't go as planned. Most of the trout I caught were from trolling paddle tails, they didn't seem to be as interested in the shrimp when I anchored up. Or I did a poor job targeting them. Did get one 21" keeper red with the shrimp. All in all probably a dozen total fish but only 3 keeper trout and 1 keeper red (which is all you can keep anyways around here now). Caught a few smaller reds with some interesting spots. Apologies for attaching pictures like a boomer but for whatever reason it is not letting embed pictures regularly.

Special cameo from the smallest toadfish (that's what we call them at least) I've ever seen who finally managed to hook himself after stealing about 6 of my shrimp.

Those are some strange spots.

Yes, we called those toad fish as well. Once, my uncle jammed a coke bottle into one’s mouth to work free a hook.

Nasty little buggers. Never been stung by one of their face spines but apparently it doesn't feel good. However I have also heard that the stings aren't really that bad and no where near as bad as salt water catfish stings, which I have unfortunately experienced..

I don't think I'll voluntarily test to confirm but I'm sure it will happen on accident one day.

I had a saltwater cat flop in the boat, and gin went through the bottom of my water shoes I had on. I immediately turned into a big sissy when it hit the soft part of the bottom of my foot. It hurt so bad😅, also have a scar from one on my finger, couldn't bend it for a day.

Got me right on the inside joint of a finger pretty deep. Still have the scar and it was stiff and hurting for so long I went to get an x ray to make sure none of the spine broke off and was still in my finger somewhere lol
