As a Purdue fan, I'm extremely happy. I'll always have bias towards the guy as he ran a solid offense from their first year until he left for the NFL. Yeah they were top of the charts offense with Brees, sure, but even during their "pedestrian" times the year before and the year after, Purdue...
Not that I wanted him to go, but yeah, Brohm is in a much better spot than just a 1 game lead over the guy Tennessee ended up with. His main weakness is bad weather. Purdue dropped 2 games just because the weather sucked, one of which to a MAC school. And he could not decide on a QB until 4...
Kiffen is going to be a head coach. If he doesn't go to Oregon, then he'll bide his time at FAU for another year, pad his resume with another amazing season, and become the next Tom Herman.
As far as raw coaching ability and recruiting, I think he's solid. My biggest concern is, dude is pretty entrenched in all things Alabama. He spent most of his career there, going through the ranks from high school up through college. Only break is when he set out to be a coordinator before...
I wouldn't kick either one out of bed for eating crackers. Between the two, Leach gets the edge, as I really think you have to have an offense with a pulse to win in today's game not just defense. However, that does not mean defense can go completely by the wayside either.
To me the only...
He has been an OC for over 2 decades, going on three. If he had aspirations to be one he would have had ample opportunity. Won't lie would love to see him back here as an OC though.
I honestly don't see Fulmer and Leach being a good fit for each other. Way too differing of personalities. Leach is abrasive and blunt. Fulmer is your stereotypical southern gentleman. I think they would be like oil and water. Would love to see Leach come, yes, but not sure it would work...
Jury is still out. There is great potential there on his heart for his Alma Mater alone, but who gets hired as head coach of football will be the litmus test.
I'm secretly hoping he gets Miles with an offensive coordinator who is forward thinking to balance it all out.
We will, and I do see how you came to your conclusion, since at this point it's all but obvious that Hamilton through Currie were definitely part of that network. But I also give credence to the smoke surrounding Currie's ouster. Yeah Schiano and Doeren were bad, but there were some legit good...
I really hope you are right. I think it's going to be Fulmer regardless, I'm just waiting to see whose side he's on. Love the guy, and I really think this is the right place for him as long as he's not just part of the good ole boys network.
I always just take a "meta" approach to it. I keep an eye on the polls and scores, and just try to watch the games that have the most promise to be entertaining, or the most entertaining teams that particular year.
I did this during the Dooley (UT)/Hope and Hazel (Purdue) years as my teams...
Hazel was his predecessor and made Butch Jones look like Saban... The average rank of recruiting class on Purdue's roster is the mid 80's. Trust me, he had complete crap outside of a few he brought with him from WKU... think about that. Kids from a mid major school out classed kids at a power...
Source is hammer and rails... if this is true, this is truly a crap show of epic proportions. I am a fan of Tennessee as well, and I hate to see it get like this.
