That's the point. When they're tired they can't get off of the field. That's more exaggerated when you have a lack of depth. That's why pro and college coaches talk about controlling the clock.

You would think so, but it isn't an easy task. Smaller defensive players generally have more endurance, but will be pushed around badly in this conference. Getting bigger guys that are athletic and have endurance is the key. Until we have depth like that, we will probably still lose to the big guys.

It's possible, but controlling the clock has to start in the beginning of the game. It would not be that effective once the defense is gassed. I would hope more for a coach that evaluates the opponent's ability to control the clock and tire defenses and adjust the game plan accordingly. It they...

I don’t think it’s a question of handcuffing the offense as much as it is a question of sharing the load. If the offense keeps the ball away from the other team, our team is better off. I believe defense is the higher energy side of the ball, which normally will cause them to tire more quickly...

I’m not advocating that approach, as I said it tongue in cheek, but please explain why? If you can outscore your opponent you will win.
