This is a idea I’ve had since I saw Texas A&M did a throw back helmet to celebrate one of their teams. This season will the 85th anniversary of the 1st National Championship for Gen. Neyland and the 1938 Volunteer squad. This is my vision of what I’d like the helmet to look like. I suggest the Vols wear orange helmets against USC this year. Get that stupid superstitious crap out of anyone's minds.

Wear them and beat the snot out the Gamecocks. Send them home doubting their decision to ever play football.

oh, and I like the throwbacks, but I doubt that will happen. It would be cool for one game though.

I dig it. I made a mockup uniform from the early 1900s that would fit this idea, if I can find the file I'll post it. As far as alternates go, I really prefer the ones that are modern takes on old classics than anything else.

Thanks , ld love to see your mock-up uniform . I also agree on alternative uniforms, updated versions of old classics is the way to go. As far as orange helmets go, I don’t understand the hate. We lose one game wearing them and some folks want to ban them forever. Historically with orange helmets ,Tennessee was quite elite. I’m sure I’ll be corrected on this but I think UT started wearing Orange helmets from 1931 to 1949 with a record of 101-25 -9 , with 2 National championships. I personally liked the orange helmets last year , I just think they would of looked better with a darker shade of orange. The out come of the game sucked, but that wasn’t the color of the helmets fault.

Turning back the clock to 1938 had many risks. What if we also get the Anschluss and the German occupation of the Sudetenland as well? 😬

I’m cool with the orange helmets as long as it is accompanied by the orange jersey and pants. Make it an orange out. It didn’t look right with the storm troopers.
