And thanks for letting the argument be about opinions instead of people. I appreciate that.
Love you too❤️
In all seriousness, you seem like good people. I enjoy arguing in general, but specifically with you. Thanks for a couple of minutes of distraction from my otherwise mundane Monday evening.

For the record..I hate that opinion, the "I hate the people that push that opinion" thing was a joke, and I'm glad you guys understood that.

No salary cap has ruined baseball for me, if you are a fan of one of those teams forced to constantly dump salary it is maddening, and the NBAs cap is an absolute joke.

The Pats, for all my hatred of them, are a model organization. It is a tribute to them that on an even playing field, they still manage to dominate. I hate em, but I wish my teams did it like them.

18-1 with 12 left, predictions on record in final 12 games?

Feel like 8-4 is a pretty fair/reasonable prediction.

Drop 1 to Kentucky
Drop 1 @ LSU
Drop 1 @ Ole Miss or Auburn
Drop 1 other...not sure we beat USC twice with how they defend or could see Miss St getting a close win here

9-3

Think we may drop one tonight.

I hate it happened to you. Hate you didn't have insurance, that sucks big time. You know VN has your back if you need something. Wish that stubborn SOB @chargervol chargewould get with the program.
Already asked so many times and I apologize but a few extra thoughts and prayers.
Got my specialist surgery date and it's not until April. Even only eating a small meal every other day, enzyme meds not gonna come close to lasting that long.
Did something to my arm trying to assist someone else. Guessing my weakened state versus what I'm used to being able to do. The safety Dept . at work is already skeptical about my ability to to not be a risk to them, got to cover this up for sure. Insert Monty Python - flesh wound gif.

Don't know what the universe's grand plan for me is but from my sneak peek, giving it a very low score on rotten tomatoes dot com. 😂😂😂

But seriously, a few extra thoughts for something to break my way, if you guys don't mind. Tia.

Sooo I have some bad news to share but VN has over the years become my extended family -- y'all are my dysfunctional brethren and sisteren. If anyone doesn't want or need to hear bad news go ahead and skip this post (it won't hurt my feelings).

I haven't really wanted to talk about it but the trauma people at Red Cross said that it was good for me to tell the story... Here goes... Friday evening I decided to cook (something I've done a million times over with no issue) but this time when I lit the burners the gas exploded. It knocked me out of the room and I think it knocked me out for at least a few seconds but when I came to my senses I was on my back and my pants were quite literally on fire. I stripped them off and looked up and noticed that about half the ceiling had been blown off and was now in the floor. What I didn't notice immediately was that a small fire had broken out further behind me and farther behind the initial blast. Once I did notice it we set about a bucket brigade, tried to beat it out, and even dumped cat litter on it but it just got bigger and bigger.

I know they say you can't imagine how quickly fire can spread but until you see it happen you just don't get it. In under a minute, it went from something we thought we'd be able to put out to a situation in which we were about to die if we didn't flee and I almost waited too long. I went back one last time after I knew it was time to abandon ship but when I thought I could still make it out safely. I managed to grab the keys, pants and a cell phone and thought about grabbing more but the smoke was starting to get really bad and even though I hesitated over the decision finally decided it was now or never.

By the time I made it out of our bedroom the fire had spread to the front door and was blocking my way out. (Thank god I'd put on a pair of jeans despite not having any shoes). All I could think of at that point was "I'm not going to effing die like this." I knew the door was straight ahead even though it was getting hard to see and flames were all around me so I decided that my best option was to just run as fast as I possibly could because fire takes a bit to catch and if I went fast enough I could minimize the damage.

Someone had to be looking out for me because it worked. I ran straight through those flames without getting a single burn (not even from the aforementioned smoldering pants). I did get a mean cut on my foot from something but otherwise we both came out relatively unscathed (the OH did suffer a few minor burns from trying to beat the fire out/standing too close while I was running water back and forth). The sad news is that I was unable to get my little tom cat out (the guilt there has been killing me but when I came back from what I turned out to be the last trip there was no way I could've gone back in without dying). There was a partially opened window that I'm hoping he escaped out of (cats are good at survival so there's at least a small chance but we haven't been able to go back and check just yet. He and the family heirlooms/photos and mementos are the most painful things to have lost.

BTW, all y'all need to go out right now and get a fire extinguisher for your home. If we'd have had one we might not have lost everything. The fire wasn't a grease fire but for whatever reason it couldn't be put out despite its initial size. An extinguisher would've done that.

P.S. Can someone catch me up on what I've missed the past few days?
@UTProf I am so sorry. I can’t begin to imagine the loss but glad you weren’t part of it.

I'm driving to work this morning listening to Fox Sports Radio talk about all the dominos that might fall with Anthony Davis's request to be traded. But there were only a couple of teams in the conversation and at no point did the talking heads mention the fact the NBA situation as being ridiculous and totally out of whack. Why a league needs 30 teams when an overwhelming majority of the franchises truly have absolutely no prayer of competing for a championship is beyond me. Sure, some of these teams can have a Cinderella year but in the NBA that only means you might make the second round of the playoffs if you're lucky. But win a championship...it ain't never, ever, ever going to happen.

I don’t think the NBA is intended to be an actual sport anymore, but rather a men’s (mostly) soap opera framed by the game of basketball.

Man, so sorry to hear that, and praise God y’all are ok! I couldn’t imagine a total loss like that. I watched my neighbors house burn to the ground several years ago with nothing being saved. They got out with their lives and hats it.

Prayers for you. I think the most devastating thing about something like that would be loss of pictures...and in my case the 20k plus rounds of ammo I have stored away!!

If you have a fund set up, or plan to, please share, I’d love to help in any way!

Golden State used to be a member of that “overwhelming majority”...just sayin.

If no one pays attention to anything I say from now on please mind this bit of advice: get a fire extinguisher if you don't already have one. AND if you do have one then get another.

We have extinguishers placed strategically the house, 5 in total, and have trained our oldest son how to use them in case a fire would happen up stairs where the boys bedrooms are.

But isn’t this the same for EVERY LEAGUE and sport. Bama wins NCAA every other yr. Patriots are in the super bowl EVERY yr. 😂😂😂. Just say you don’t like the NBA 😂

What caused your stove to explode? Was there a gas leak?

I haven't seen them play. It's probably because it is a sold out road game vs a frank martin coached team. I trust our guys though

Watched them a number of times. Team with very wide extremes. They have been downright awful a number of times and also plenty good enough to beat us a few times as well if we aren't playing our best.

I was thinking about it yesterday while listening to radio, too. It’s maddening. The discussion was that the Pelicans are at fault because they didn’t put enough pieces around Davis. That may be partly true, but they did trade for Cousins last year, and it resulted in a torn Achilles.

In Memphis, the Grizzlies will never make a run at a title. Sure, they made the western conference finals one year, but Westbrook was hurt that year. No doubt that the Grizzlies have made some bad decisions, but small market teams can only build through the draft and by trade. When you build it over 4-5 years, then your super star wants out. These teams have to gamble on players, and most don’t pan out.

The Grizzlies actually had two stars who were very loyal, and now national media is criticizing them for hanging on to them too long. They don’t understand. The Grizzlies just want to win more than they lose and contend in the playoffs. People may think that’s defeatist, but that’s the way the NBA has set it up.

9-3

Think we may drop one tonight.
We've had an atrocious few games before WVU, but this team plays to its competition. I think 10-2. UK and either Auburn or LSU. Hopefully Barnes gets them to stop slacking against lesser teams. UK is the only one on our schedule who has any business beating us if we play well.

Yea, that’s true. But percentages suggest it’s very difficult to hit on draft picks like they did. They deserve the credit for it.
Simple change in mindset in the organization and suddenly everything worked. Mark Jackson had Curry, Thompson and Green. Kerr won championships with them.

UTProf- prayers offered of thanks for sparing lives, for healing, and for stability. Now would be the time to invest deeply into your spiritual growth IMO. What I see from your posts is you were spared for good reasons only the Lord would know. Be blessed no matter what.

Vols appear to be about a 9 point favorite. More bulletin board material from USCJr. and they may need to raise that.

NBA killed my fandom years ago with their candy arse treatment of literal idiots who play basketball well. Add in the loose rules interpretations with Euro travels, flops, etc. When only a handful of teams have a chance to win a championship - nah, not interested. Same with the NFL. Who couldn't see a LA/NE SB coming like a freight train, and sure enough, they made sure it happened. Got to get those ratings up to keep the money flow coming in. I'll pass.

Yes, but it's only one example. And it is San Francisco.

When Minnesota, Memphis, Sacremento, et al, win a championship, I'll be more than happy to eat my words.
Chicago Bulls used to be that guy back in the day. San Antonio Spurs too. Both organizations drafted talent that couldn’t translate to a title until Phil Jackson and Gregg Popovich started coaching it.
