'15 AL OL Brandon Kennedy

Is this from his famous "Hey little people are people too" speech?

If a player is good enough to break the two-deep at Bama after graduating, he's probably entering the draft. Just saying.

The writer is saying that now if Saban has a position of need that he can "just reach out" to an SEC rival and pluck away a grad to fill that need. Surely the rule change doesn't mean coaches can now initiate contact with grads from other schools. Or is that just a witless statement by the writer?

Found this in the Montgomery Advertiser this morning. Looks like things are on hold for Kennedy.

Still, despite the rule’s immediate effectiveness, it may not necessarily change things for Kennedy, who is still technically blocked by Alabama, at least until either Alabama rescinds its limitations or the NCAA transfer working group’s “notification to transfer” proposal goes into effect Oct. 15, should it pass in mid-June as expected.

That doesn’t make any sense. He can now transfer in conference at his own pleasure. Bama has no say so.

I’m fairly certain the effective date for the new rule to go into effect is sometime in the future. That allows for compliance nerds in the administration to make sure they don’t destroy some kid’s eligibility.

And therein lies the point.

He's good enough to walk in and make UTs starting lineup and he's a backup at Bama (at best).

Bama and UT both benefit by him being on their roster. You could argue UT moreso than Bama.

Kennedy benefits more by getting on the field. UT provides a better chance of that.

Bama had an unreal 2017 class but they've been following the Jones school of not recruiting enough OL lately.

I don't think people give Butch enough credit...he loves Tennessee so much that he is at Bama right now uploading his virus philosophy into their football program.

"A coach still could conceivably block a graduate transfer hoping to move this summer, but coaches across the country are about to have that capability stripped by an NCAA rule that will be voted on later this month and will go into effect in October. Under the current rules, schools must grant permission to athletes to be contacted by potential transfer destinations. If the old school doesn’t grant permission, the new school can’t give the player an athletic scholarship for a year. "

Saban could still block him from having permission until Oct. vote, but he would look like more of a douchebag than he already does. Most think he will cave in and grant Kennedy permission at some point.

His whole platform has been hiding behind the “It’s a SEC RULE” schizz. Can’t use that anymore.
