This is turning into an absolute circus...

They don't need a search party if the only two they could agree on is a former coach and a Bama employee.

They should hire a search firm search firm to find the right search firm for this search.

University of Tennessee close to hiring firm for AD search

Somebody needs to take charge and show some leadership and it doesn't appear that Beverly Davenport will be the one.

You are correct, and the process has begun. It will take time. Someone alluded to the search being a "circus." The funny thing is that those who hang their hat on local media and football fan boards are the clowns. Hopefully, people will start realizing that the University's handling and timeline of the search process isn't predicated on the desires of the "tell me now" segment of the UT fan base...Much of the information that has been disseminated thus far (outside of official Tennessee sources) is fictitious.

Search firm is a CYA move and nothing more.

I agree. It's just so they can say "after an extensive search across the nation, the (third party) search firm recommended": Blackburn or Fulmer.

It's going to be an expensive CYA.

I know of a great search firm and it has 102,455 employees and they all want David Blackburn. Give the fans what they want for a change.

UT paid the Parker Executive Search firm $75,000, plus expenses, to help in its nationwide hunt for a new chancellor for the Knoxville campus.

The contract locked in terms that can be used by the Tennessee Board of Regents and any of the UT campuses for searches, but neither is required to use Parker.

UT would not comment on why it has opened the bidding process for a search firm for the athletic director hire.

Parker has helped UT fill at least 11 leadership positions, including four in athletics, in the past nine years.

The Atlanta-based firm aided UT searches that resulted in the hiring of Hart, former basketball coach Cuonzo Martin, former football coach Derek Dooley and current baseball coach Dave Serrano.

Well, that's encouraging.

I'm waiting for someone to blast the search firm for being located in Atlanta and infested with Dawgs. We need Tennessee people making this call!

Wondering how many posters will use this debacle as an excuse for a milk toast recruiting class on signing day.

No kidding. Fire those guys as it looks like a smart move is being made.

better question is how many recruits will look at the uncertainty of the direction of the program as an excuse to go elsewhere.

They need a search party to hunt down their ass, balls and brains... Not necessarily in that order.
