Would the University not have a strong case against him if they wanted to claim he wasn't putting forth a "good faith" effort to secure comparable employment? Isn't that what his contract said he had to do to mitigate a buyout in the event he was fired without cause?
I know we have a lot of fun jabbing Butch here now, but the guy is pretty clearly insanely overqualified to be an intern at Alabama. He could be a coordinator at a P5 school or a HC at a G5 school.
We have moved on. That doesn't mean that it still isn't funny/entertaining to talk about him.
The guy's tenure at Tennessee was fascinating for a variety of reasons - it was hopeful, exciting, frustrating, and demoralizing all within a span of a few years. Ultimately (and fortunately for Butch), it isn't his tenure itself that will be remembered any time his name is brought up; it is the nutso coaching search for his replacement.
our fan base pays way too much attention to past coaches.
we are like a 14 year old girl. breaking up with someone because they weren't good enough but still stalking the crap out them to make sure they never have fun again.
