Crompton Numbers for the South Carolina Game

2009CromptonPassingEfficiency RatingJonathan Crompton and Steven Garcia are within .18 of each other in passing efficiency (JC 128.23 and SG 128.40). Crompton is average a 140.2 rating over Tennessee’s last four games:

If Jonathan stays on his recent average, he’s looking at something in the neighborhood of 20 of 35 for 264 with 2 touchdowns and no interceptions.

These numbers would be excellent given South Carolina’s Pass Defense is ranked #3 in the nation. They average giving up 141 yards per game to the pass.

The first half of the Auburn game cost Jonathan from trending up in passing efficiency for five (5) straight games. Regardless of the stats, he’s making better decisions.

The line on the game is starting out as the Vols a 5 point favorite. http://www.vegasinsider.com/college-football/odds/las-vegas/?s=1831

Given the beating JC has taken in the public eye and the media, here are some newer links that acknowledge his improvement:

Tennessee is trending upward with their Quarterback play and a stellar defensive performance last Saturday. Rocky Top promises to be an electric venue as Spurrier and his Gamecocks come to town.

ESPN will be in town. Rumors of orange glow sticks, black jerseys and Eric Berry mask have lingered: we shall see.

Just as in the Alabama game, Tennessee will need to play a solid sixty minutes of football. The Vols are still in the negative in Turnover Margin, ranking 77th in the nation.

Concerning Prospects. The much anticipated recruiting list for the South Carolina game is unofficially: http://www.volnation.com/forum/tennessee-vols-recruiting/83657-visitors-uscjr-game.html
