Delvin Jones still favors Vols

in Tennessee Vols Football Recruiting

The state of the Tennessee football program has taken a shocking twist, turn, and then free fall it seems in the last few days. Multiple recruits have come out and publicly decommitted from the Tennessee football program after hearing the news that Lane Kiffin and some coaches left Tennessee for greener pastures out in Los Angles at USC.

One of those recruits was four star defensive end Delvin Jones (Miami, FL/ Palmetto HS). Jones decommitted shortly after Kiffin and company got out of Tennessee and since then has been on a holding pattern with Tennessee.

“Yes I am decommitted from Tennessee at this time,” said Jones. “I’d like to wait and see what happens with the coaching staff and then I will go from there.”

Jones is one of many recruits who are waiting to see what happens. The wait might be over sometime on Friday as sources to VolNation.com have stated that Tennessee could have their new head coach as early as Friday. Multiple names are being thrown out but for Jones he doesn’t know much.

“I don’t know who they are going to be hiring but a lot of my questions are going to be answered tonight when I get a visit from Coach Brown,” stated Jones. “The coaches did tell me though that I should hopefully know who the new head coach is come Friday at some time.”

Jones however stated he is very interested in Tennessee and hasn’t left the program entirely.

“I still view Tennessee as my favorite school and right now they are on top again,” said Jones. “When they hire a new coach I will know more. I will most likely commit to Tennessee again after they hire the new coach.”

With Jones taking a wait and see approach he has however been contacted by one school.

“I got a call from North Carolina about my interest but its nothing to big,” explained Jones.

“I am just waiting to see who they hire and then I will go from there.”

VolNation.com will keep you updated on his upcoming visit as well as Jones future plans and if Tennessee falls into those plans.
