Offensive gameplan and running the football. Once again, offensive coordinator David Cutcliffe gave up on the run too early. I’ve read his comments after several Tennessee losses in the last couple of years and on numerous occasions he’s admitted that he gave up on the run prematurely.

What a crazy day it was around the Southeastern Conference. As I watch the season unfold, I continue to wonder if I’m living in the Bizaro world.

Tennessee traveled to Starkville on Saturday for a matchup with SEC West foe Mississippi State. The real question heading into today’s game was whether or not last week’s win over Georgia was a fluke and if the Vols could put together back to back performances.

There’s not much news to report coming from campus. The Vols had a light 45-minute workout on Wednesday as the students had their first day of classes. The Vols did get word that starting tight end Brad Cottam will miss 2-3 months with a wrist injury.

On Tuesday, Tennessee held their final major scrimmage of the pre-season. All that remains at this point will be a kicking scrimmage on Saturday morning. Here are a few notes and thoughts from Tuesday night.
