The first official preseason poll is out and Tennessee football will start its 2025 campaign landing at No. 18 in the August 4th US LBM Coaches Poll. It marks a slide from last year’s No. 8 finish after the Vols’ 10–3 season capped by a playoff loss to national champion Ohio State.
The Vols are one of nine SEC teams in the preseason Top 25, coming in eighth among their conference peers. Their schedule features heavyweight matchups against No. 4 Georgia, No. 8 Alabama, and No. 17 Florida—all ranked ahead of Tennessee.
Tennessee opens the season on August 30 against Syracuse at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. While the Orange aren’t ranked, they did receive votes in the preseason poll.
