According to multiple reports, Tennessee will hire Mike DeBord as its offensive coordinator to replace Mike Bajakian, who left to take a position as quarterbacks coach with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

DeBord was the head coach at Central Michigan from 2000-2003, where Butch Jones served as his offensive coordinator in 2002 and 2003.

Most recently, DeBord coached tight ends for the Chicago Bears from 2010-2012.

  1. Let the usual suspects carry on with their rants. I, for one (of many), applaud bUTch’s choice. Let the titades begin!

  2. If he is ok with Butch, then he is ok with me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    GO VOLS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Confident that CBJ can take this amazing group of young Vols & mix it with a fine staff of assistants/teachers/mentors & take TENNESSEE back to glory.

  4. For overall staff unity and continuity, it’s the best hire. Possible bumps in titles for Azzanni and Gillespie. Keeps the system the same and everyone happy.

My only problem. No true QB coach.

  5. 7 Posts without a single clueless hand wringer with chicken little syndrome. What has happened to VN?

  6. I guess we now can say we are the only school ever to hire a secretary as an offensive coordinator.
