Kyle Phillips: Vols make final five

Consensus four-star, class of 2015 Tennessee defensive end Kyle Phillips released his top five on Wednesday, and the Vols made the cut along with Ole Miss, LSU, Alabama and Tennessee State (where his mother works and his dad played).

“They’re the home-state school,” Phillips told Rivals.com. “They are kind of similar to Ole Miss because of the family atmosphere and I have a great relationship with the coaches. I’ve been to there and Ole Miss the most. They have a young team, too, so I’m looking forward to how they are going to do. They also have a lot of guys from Tennessee that I know and that would be helpful, too, just knowing guys on the same team.”

Phillips is listed at 6-3, 260 and is rated a four-star prospect by Rivals, Scout, ESPN and 247sports. Rivals ranks him as the No. 14 strongside defensive end and the No. 4 player in the state of Tennessee.
