I wonder how James feels because the same was not done when his family lost their house in a fire.
Couple thoughts, 1. Was prior to NIL being allowed so it would’ve been quite a bit trickier to do 2. James family situation is quite a bit different than Zeigler’s to put it mildly 3. James going out of his way postgame to make sure people know Zeigler’s name tells me all I need to know. 4. JJJ donating out of his own pocket should probably tell you how he feels.

I did not consider NIL. At first, I thought that wouldn't make any difference, but are you saying before NIL, a GoFundMe being setup on behalf of the Zeigler family would have been impermissible? Seems harsh, but I suppose a rule may have been in place to prohibit pay for play via a veiled GoFundMe...

No doubt James is first class. I know it would be hard for me to ignore what I pointed out if I were in his shoes lol.

Definitely more hoops to jump through pre-NIL for sure, not sure if it would’ve been allowed at all but I can guarantee it wouldn’t have been this easy and $350k wouldn’t have been permitted.

Again as for James, his family situation is much different and I would venture to guess that’s why he isn’t bothered by it, he’s fully aware of Zeigler’s situation.

I agree 100%. The only reason that Ziegler's family has raised the money is a total reflection of who their son is as an athlete and person. If Ziegler had not been a standout athlete, the family wouldn't have raised the money as quickly as they did. The pride and joy they have to have in their son is indescribable. First getting into college on a full scholarship and now this.
If Ziegler had just been "on the team" I'm sure they still would've reached their goal, but he has touched many basketball fans who feel like they many fans and they feel personally connected to him. I also believe the family would've reached its goal out of compassion for the nephew.
In the past this would've probably been seen as a violation. People could exploit and create tragedies. I actually think I remember another UT basketball player having a gofundme for a sister with medical expenses. . . I can't remember who it was, and they surpassed their goal, but it wasn't by as much as Ziegler. UT couldn't promote or endorse it though because of NCAA rules.

Some kids just give u a diff vibe or feel...U can sincerely see that he loves this game and is beyond grateful to just be in this position.Dude worked his ass off against all odds just to be where he is there's something about hard work and just that joy of where he is that's hard not to gravitate towards.
