I have noticed at times this season, but really noticed last night, that we look like an ENTIRELY different team with Richard and McClendon playing the guards.

I thought we opened nice holes and Erik had ALL day to throw the ball when those two were in the game. I haven't heard many comments from coaches regarding this and was wondering if the rest of you guys noticed this and had the same opinion.

They are a different type of OG than what we start. Richard and McClendon are great at run blocking, but poor at pass blocking. The opposite stands true for Parker and Scott. Too bad we don't have any that can do both.

That's what I've heard people SAY, but go back and watch our games, there has been NO dip in pass blocking when they are in the game and the run blocking is massively better.

I have been wondering all season why McClendon hasn't gotten more playing time especially in goal line and 3rd and short situations. I think we control the line of scrimmage better much better with them in there. They can blow an assignment or two in pass protection, but we run the ball much more effectively when they come in.

That's why we bring them in when we plan on running.

well that seems like an awful big "tell" for the other team if they are keeping an eye out for that.

Might as well try to groom the younger ones to learn the blocking that they don't know yet and get them in there asap.

Trial by fire.
