HE IS NOT BIG ENOUGH TO BE AN EFFECTIVE DT

Yeah, but he is also behind 3 better players at DE, so they were looking at him at DT this spring because no one has proven that they want to take over the starting tackle spot.

Re-read slowly. If he isn't big enough to play at DT, then he will not beat out Mapu, Bolden, Williams etc.

Also, Fisher did not practice much in the spring (if at all) and did not play in the O&W game because he was injured.

Dan Williams blocked an extra point attempt and made some nice plays. Chase Nelson was in the backfield alot. Mapu and Bolden looked good as well.

All four stepped up.

Whats your feelings on Austin Rogers?? I know he has had problems with injury and illness last year but when he played... he was outstanding...great hands.... Does he not make starting receiver crew?

He'll be a viable slot receiver. He does not possess the speed or athleticsm that O'Neal, Vinson, or Jones have. Hancock, O'Neal, Vinson and Jones will be the top 4. Rogers will be hardpressed to beat any of those guys out.

Hardesty will not play in front of Foster IMO. I know Hardesty played in front of Foster 2 years ago before he blew out his knee and got RS, but after the spring game Foster and Coker are 1a and 1b.

Fisher has yet to stay healthy, so putting him in front of Ayers is a stretch.

Ellix Wilson will play at the MLB before Donald.

The CB spot will probably play out like you posted.

I expect Langley to get some playing time at DT.

My Hardesty thing is me being stubborn. I think he's completely underrated by about 98% of our fanbase. The three kids should all average around 12 carries a game.

Fisher is a DT. He isn't a big DT, but neither was McBride. They want him to play a McBride type DT. Either way, we should have a good rotation at DL-Mitchell, Mapu, Bolden, Reynolds, Brown, Williams, Fisher, Ayers, Martin, Nelson, Thomas, and Langley. Rufus Williams, William Brimfield, and Rolando Melancon will redshirt.

If UT is controlling the line of scrimmage and the run is working good enough to where 3 guys get 12 carries then UT will win alot of games.

Hardesty did have a tendency to dance around too much in the first half of the season, but he got better at taking a straight ahead line in the 2nd half of the season.

Agreed. At times it looked like he thought he was Barry Sanders.

Knee surgeries like his usually take 2 years to come back from. This might be his year

Hardesty has that beast look that defines a great runningback.. he's got good speed, and power.
if he could read plays better and run throught the hole at the right time then he would be a stud... He's got some strength..

QFT

And as a upcoming RS SO, he's got 3 seasons left in him to learn.

Austin Rogers is supposed to be one of the fastest players on the team, but he does lack athletism. He showed good hands during the spring game. I've never liked Hardesty; he seems to lack the speed or vision. But he looke pretty good in the spring game also.

Hardesty isn't as fast as Coker, but he's as fast or faster than Foster.

Also, Hardesty's shuttle time is way better than Coker's.

Coker is on another level when it comes to speed. He's one of the fastest to ever wear orange.

True.

I don't understand all the discussion about Coker, Foster, and Hardesty.

All of these guys have had multiple carries in multiple games. I thought it was clear Coker had played the best up to this point. He averaged over 6 yds/carry last season. Its been a decade since another RB at UT had those kind of numbers. Unless more off the field problems occur, I dont see anyone else being the starter.

Its one thing to play well during practice, and another to play well during games. Coker played exceptionally in some games last year. I have trouble seeing someone unseating him as the starter. Up to this point he's earned it.

Unfortunately, the games in which Coker played well were mostly against the weaker teams we faced. That really helped his ypc. He's good, but it's not like he's an all time great as this post suggests. He may not even be the best back on the team.

I've heard this arguement before, but Foster and Hardesty played in those same games againt those weaker teams and didn't play near as well as Coker.

Iif Coker had played most of the game against Florida and PSU, UT would have probably been 10-2 instead of 9-4.

He could have helped in the Penn State game, although he was tackled behind the line of scrimmage on all his carries except for the long TD. He wouldn't have made a difference against Florida.

If Coker had done what he needed to in the classroom there wouldn't have been the disruption before the bowl game. Both he and the team would have been better prepared. It could have been a real coming out for him but instead Foster got more practice thus playing time.

I think if Coker had been there for the whole bowl prep he'd have played more and better.

Judging from the reports coming out of spring, Rogers deserves playing time at this point as does Hancock. If they are the two guys who are running routes and making catches... then they should be the guys until someone knocks them off.

We don't know if any of the incoming guys will be world beaters. We don't know if they'll spend two years+ learning how to hold on to the ball like JaKouri Williams.

O'Neal has proven he can do some things at this level. The others haven't. Rogers and Hancock are at least that far ahead of them.
