Baylor over Texas Southern (big)
LSU over California (another close one but SEC prepared LSU to take this one)
TN over Dayton (normally I would say big but mindset will be the determining factor on how much Tn wins by)
Louisville over Dayton (won't be close)
Oklahoma over Gonzaga (I hate to bet against Gonzaga in the post season)
Washington over Montana St (the big girl will reign)
DePaul over Northern Iowa (could be a close one)
Miss State over Troy (won't be close)

There is only ONE game that has my attention in this region and it's The Lady Vols v The Flyers.

I'm keeping the Faith.

Tennessee will advance to the Final Four!

LSU has no answer to Cal's Anigwe but then again the rest of the Cal offense is so terrible that LSU probably has enough to pull out that win.

Agreed with the rest of the picks here. Gonzaga has a shot at the upset, playing in Seattle, but like Dayton, they aren't really up to the level we've come to expect from them over recent years.

Miss. State/DePaul second round would be fun.

The Cal/LSU game is huge. If LSU can get past Cal, they have a real opportunity to upset Baylor because the Baylor guards are slow and if Jones is out or not at full speed, they won't be able to contain the LSU guards.

Top 4 seeds will make it to Okl City, IMO. I think the Miss State/Washington S16 game will be a great game. I really want to see how Kelsey Plum fares against a team that prides itself on defensive intensity. Will be interesting to see if Dominique Dillingham can slow her down.

Tennessee pretty much has an equal chance to lose to Dayton, beat Dayton, lose to Louisville or beat Louisville. But no matter what happens in those first two games, Baylor will be going to the E8 as long as Alexis Jones is healthy. I'm going to go out on a limb and pick MSU to beat Baylor in the E8 to make the FF. I think they match up well with them.

Kalani Brown and Nina Davis will be too much in the frontcourt for LSU to handle. LSU's guards will have to live off mid-range shots, because Brown will shut down the paint and prevent any drives.

She didn't seem to prevent drives when Texas' guards sliced to the paint at will when they beat Baylor.

Brooke McCarty, Ariel Atkins and Lashaun Higgs are also much better players than LSU's guard trio. They can also all shoot the long ball and had post players with enough size to finish plays. I don't think LSU has the size to contend with Baylor even if Moncrief or Jackson have good games.

dang, Dayton gets no respect, gotta play UT and UL? lol

So, help me out here.
If Dayton wins one game and loses the other, do they still survive and advance?
Or what if they win both games? Would they then choose which opponent to play in the next round or would they have to play two more games in the next round?
Talk about your bad draw!
I've never seen a team have to play twice in the opening round.
Somebody on the Selection Committee really hates Dayton.

If (a big if) Alexis Jones is out, and if the Lady Vols get past Dayton and Louisville, the Baylor rematch is interesting. There were lots of horrible things about that Baylor game, but Alexis Jones absolutely killed us and we had no answer defensively.

Guards have to hit shots to beat Baylor (see: Crystal Dangerfield, Texas, and WVU in the B12 championship game) so we'd pretty much be counting on Reynolds to play like she did against Miss. St. soooooo....?

I think Baylor would still beat Tennessee without Alexis Jones, but I think the Lady Vols would have a much greater chance of winning without her. If she's there, I don't give them much of a chance.

Has Reynolds ever had back to back games where she was a scoring threat? It's a catch-22. They'll need points from her to beat Louisville, so if she goes according to trend and disappears against Baylor, it would be ugly...

Just like to point out that the Dayton game is in Louisville and if win the Dayton game will be playing Louisville on their home court. If they win those two games then they will play Sweet 16 game against Baylor ( probably ) in Oklahoma City.

The crazy thing is that Tennessee has shown they can win on the road against top teams. They beat SC and MSU at home...on MSU's Senior Day no less (although I think that MSU's lackluster play had a bearing on the margin of victory in that game). Being on the road seems to hurt them more against bad teams than good teams.

Louisville is an interesting matchup for them. They are inexperienced at the low post, so Russell should have her way down low, but the trio of Asia Durr, Myisha Hines-Allen and Mariya Moore are tough, physical competitors. If those three get going and they can get some production from their inside players, then they should win this game unless Tennessee's Big 3 get good scoring efforts from at least 2 additional players.

I'll pick Louisville to win, but Tennessee does have a chance to win if the team that beat SC and ND shows up.

Asia Durr is a big, big problem -- the exact type of player that historically goes off for a bajillion points against the LVs. Keeping a body on her in the halfcourt and keeping Louisville from getting too many fastbreak points would be key. From the few times I've seen Louisville play, they seem a little handsy on defense so if this game happens, would love to see us try to get them in foul trouble (something we seemed to do well in all of our big wins).

trivia Cal is in the tourney and went 6-13 in their last 19 games and they play LSU who had an equally poor last two months.

South Florida with a roster of 15 has 9 players from 7 different countries. And they have played Connecticut three times.

We'll see. The LV's have the talent. I don't put a lot of faith in some fans observations that the team will play to the level of Holly's interviews. Each player will have to determine whether they play with the effort needed. The coach can teach, yell and threaten but in the end, it is the player that decides the level of effort they expend.
