Your Memphis Grizzlies Basketball Thread III

The front office has obviously done a very good job. They have earned the benefit of the doubt with their drafting. Their weakness has been is they completely disregard value at times when going after a target with a limited market...

The Winslow trade was atrocious from a value perspective if you got PEAK, 82 game healthy Winslow. Ziaire will have to become close to a Desmond Bane caliber player to justify the opportunity cost of taking on the bad salaries. 22 and 29 for 19 is on no value chart ever.

I tried to link the pic of the Perkins/Bane/Ja twitter jabs. Funny stuff but won't work here.

Perkins compared Trevor Keels (31% 3pt shooter) to Bane (43.5% 3pt shooter) and Bane took note.

They saved roughly $1.5 million per year in contract money by taking the 19 and giving up the 22 and 29. I know they then traded for 23, but they traded Melton for Green also, and Green will likely be bought out. They only traded for 23 when they realized that Roddy was still there. That's who they wanted.

Imagine the war chest of picks we could offer the Nets had we followed the OKC approach and got picks for taking on bad contracts instead of taking on a bad player (Winslow) AND bad contracts...
