Quarterbacks: B-
Ainge overthrew several receivers, but was able to convert a few tough 3rd downs. No interceptions.

Wide Receivers: C
Dropped a few easy passes. Blocking was sub par on runs.

Runnings Backs: B-
This is mostly a second half rating. We broke a few good runs of ~10 yards.

Offensive Line: C+
Ainge wasn't pressured a ton, but our runs up the middle were never more than a few yards.

Defensive Line: C-
Hard to contain a running QB. Don't remember a lot of sacks.

Linebackers: C-
Simply average.

Defensive Backs: C+
I can't remember any real long passes USM had. They were certainly challenged 1v1.

Special Teams (Returning): C+
Hefney did good at punt returns. Our kickoff returns were sub par.

Special Teams (Coverage): D-
Why is it our special teams are continually letting the other team get to midfield. This puts our defense in a tremendous hole.

OVERALL: C
We have a lot of work to do in order to be ready for Florida.

QB's a C+!?!?! Ainge deserves at least an A tonight. He was great once again, and the game would have gotten out of hand without his play in the first half. He is playing championship caliber football right now.

There's no way to give Ainge a C+ when he throws for 276 and 2 TDs.
Taylor and Rogers played well.
The RBs gained almost 200 yards.
The D-line came to life tonight.
The kickoff coverage was still suspect, but the punting and FG kicking was superb.

Not saying that it was a dominant performance by any means, but you seem really low across the board.

They did burn Marsalous Johnson with Berry over the top for their only touchdown...

Hmm...on second thought, you're right. I bumped him up to a B-. There were several great throws. But there were also 3 or 4 easy easy throws that he missed. These include screen passes, quick outs, etc. Those types of throws should be routine.

He also had WRs drop 3 passes AND one went right through Briscoe's hands which would have been a TD.

I have no idea what game you just watched.

I addressed Ainge.
RBs were nonexistent first half compared to second half.
D-line came to life the last few drives when USM had given up.

And remember this is Southern Miss. This isn't a dominating team. We should have looked a lot better in every area compared to Cal and we didn't.

Ainge gets a C+ because he threw for 276, 2TD's, and no picks against Southern Miss. Although they are the best team in the State of Mississippi right now he could have done better.

The recievers get a D+ at best. Too many bobbled balls, poor blocking and failing to run dummy routes effectivly to open the field.

But a Win is a Win and to 30+ piont games is a good start to the season. The defense looked better and the offense will only get better as well...It was nice to see foster go over 100 yards tonight.

Quarterbacks: A-
Ainge was Ainge, he played well tonight, and there are only a couple of instances that he made the wrong decision.

Wide Receivers: B-
There were too many drops, and a couple of bad routes, but overall, I was impressed (especially with Rogers and Taylor)

Runnings Backs: B
Foster ran well tonight.

Offensive Line: B+
Ainge had all day, howver we still need to work on the power run blocking.

Defensive Line: C-
Last week as a F, we contained their run and got pressure, but we blitzed more as well.

Linebackers: C
Still missing far too many tackles, and with all the blitzes we should have had more sacks.

Defensive Backs: D-
Horrid coverage, especially in the first half...

Special Teams (Returning): C-
Why...is USM returning the ball farther than we are?

Special Teams (Coverage): D-
Why is it our special teams are continually letting the other team get to midfield. This puts our defense in a tremendous hole. This was horrible, the kicks and the coverage.

OVERALL: D+ First Half B+ Second Half
I hope that our inspired defensive play in the second half can carry over into the Florida game, if not, it will be a long night. The offense still for the most part looked great.

Giving that a C is average:

Quarterbacks: A-

Ainge is playing up to a 1st round draft pick this year, and had a number of throws tonight that are RIDICULOUS for a college QB to make. I wish he had some true playmakers. The Minus is due to that Retarded and obvious Crompton Tebow play, plus the fumble on his only passing chance.

Wide Receivers: B-
Taylor had his second 100 yard game, and extended the ball down the field a lot more than last Week. Rogers had a blatant drop, which is never a good thing. Briscoe needs to leave his 3rd Reciever spot. I hate his hair, I hate his lack of any skill whatsoever, and I hate his whiff of a perfect Erik Ainge throw. I don't care if he caught a TD, get ANYONE else to take his place, RIGHT NOW! He offers nothing to our team.

Runnings Backs: B
Foster is soooooooooo slow, but at least he knows what he's doing out there. Coker looked lost, as he should be. Creer showed why he'll be the starter next year. Hopefully that fumble was a fluke. Hardesty wasn't given anything. Our coaches really need to let these guys run though. They haven't looked bad at any point so far this season, they just haven't been given chances in the right places. Foster honestly looks pretty good as a starter.

Offensive Line: B+
Nothing spectacular in the rush game, but nothing awful either. Pass blocking was excellent.

Defensive Line: C-
WE GOT A SACK AND 7 QB HURRIES! OMG! Lots of pressure at least, but unfortunately their QB was also a scrambler. Better than last week. Dan Williams > J.T. Mapu

Linebackers: C
Awful at tackling, yet somehow our defense is again led in tackles by a linebacker. Waiting for them to dominate.

Defensive Backs: Hard to Determine.
So incredibly different between halfs that it's not worth grading. Thank goodness we don't have so many in this area leading our tackling this week, always a good sign. Hefney is playing very non-All-American so far this season, I expect more from him, but at least Eric Berry is stepping in and almost recovering fumbles in the end zone. Friggin' Chuck Norris.

Special Teams (Returning): D
So bad... At least Hefney can take two steps back and one to the side AND STILL GAIN TEN YARDS on punt returns. I like the combo of Creer and Moore on this.

Special Teams (Coverage): C-
Good kicks, and well-placed. Got a lot better, A LOT better in the second half. Oh, and I find it hilarious that we actually had to kick off from our own 15 there. What an impossible situation. Typical Tennessee, so I really don't get too down about this.

OVERALL: D First Half B+ Second Half
Our defense can't tackle at all. It's sad. If they learn, we'll get ten times better as a team. Our offense has quietly put 70 points on two good teams, and is very much ready for a shoot-out with Florida (though it's probably going to be some sort of ridiculous 20-17 type game) . We did a lot with play-calling against USM to get much better as an offensive unit, especially in the running game, consistently a key factor against Florida. We're definitely capable of winning, and I still think we will.

Where is coaching on this list?

QB: A- Ainge is well on his way to being something really special. If this season continues the way it is and he can stay healthy, he may find himself in the 1st round of the NFL draft.

RB: B Foster is shutting his doubters up. Lennon Creer is going to be a 1000 yard rusher. Coker showed to be a bit rusty.

WR: B- Lucas Taylor might just be good. Austin Rogers is steady. We still need another playmaker. Josh Briscoe is terrible. We need more depth and someone has to step up sooner rather than later.

O-Line: B+ Ainge was clean, we ran the ball well and their confidence should be high going into the Florida game. They very well could determine the outcome of that game. I think they could play well enough for us to literally pound Florida into submission on the ground if the defense can just not suck.

D-Line: C Didn't see anything great, although they got a slightly better push. Nothing exciting, but Dan Williams looked solid.

LB: B- Rico shows so much potential to be a stud, yet almost ruins it by his lapses. Good to see Ryan Karl make a tackle, but Jerod Mayo wasn't around the ball like he should have been.

DB: C- Why did Johnson stop running on that long TD? He was more worried about blaming someone else than he was chasing the defender. Idiot. That's why Berry needs to stay at corner full time. Stop screwing around. They clamped down in the 2nd half though, and tackled much better.

ST: B+ Daniel Lincoln has been a pleasant surprise. Return coverage was decent and the return game has potential. We need Colquitt 100% healthy.

Coaching: B- Still a few too many moronic play calls. Still didn't get any reps to the young guys. What's with the idiotic play with Crompton? Stop making things obvious please. Don't bring in guys like Crompton and O'Neal and go to them automatically. It's fairly obvious.

Overall: B

Showed improvement albeit against a worse team. They came out trying to go downfield early, yet still abandoned the run early on when they shouldn't have. Cutcliffe still called too many dumb shotgun, short routes on 3rd and short, but took more shots down field and called the right run plays at the right time in the 2nd half. The defense played very well after the 1st quarter and that's a positive sign. They aren't where they need to be yet, but improvement is improvement.

the Crompton call was worth a downgrading letter grade alone...lol

Ainge deserves nothing less than a B. In fact, the entire offense deserves nothing less than a B. This wasn't an "off"-game. We scored 39 pts, people.

Quarterbacks: B+ or A-
Ainge has been great in the first two games. We would have started out 0-3 without him.

Wide Receivers: a solid B
Made most of the catches they were supposed to. Rogers and Taylor are still looking a lot better than I thought they would at the begining of the year. Still need to find a #3 because it isn't Briscoe.

Runnings Backs: B+
Foster is a workhorse and got better as the game went on. Creer just showed everyone why I made the Lennon Creer bandwagon. He is going to be great, just needs to work on holding onto the ball.

Offensive Line: B
I'd give the Pass Pro a B+ and the Run Blocking a B-. Ainge had all day most of the night. It sounded like the OL got a pretty good push most of the night and you cant complain with <200 yards rushing

Offense Overall: B+
Pretty good balance tonight and there is no reason to be worried with the O right now. Still a couple bad play calls by Cut that most didnt like.

Defensive Line: C+
I think the DL did a pretty good job tonight. Ayers and Williams made the most of their opportunities. Bolden was also solid. Did a good job stopping a good running team.

Linebackers: C
Some bad angles and Mayo was no where to be found last night. Rico stepped up in the second half and hit some people in the mouth which was good to see. I expected more out of our LBs. Again did a good job stopping a good running team

Defensive Backs: D
Bad pass Defense against a bad passing team. Did we really just let USM throw for more yards than Cal did against us? Not good at all. This needs to be fixed.

Special Teams (Returning): C
Solid job returning tonight. Nothing amazing but it was solid. Creer is going to break a return for a big gain next week.

Special Teams (Coverage): D
Not good. Got a little better in the second half.

OVERALL: B-
We showed some improvements in a lot of places tonight other than in the Secondary. Hope they were holding somethings on D back for UF. Its going to be a shootout.

Let me also add that Ainge has thrown 83 passes so far in 2007....0 INTs.

ANd as far as the defense, there is a thing called CHANGE that some negavols dont seem to understand....for 5 quarters, the UT defense was no where to be found...but for the last 3, they have been playing very well.

Quarterbacks: A-
Ainge made those receivers look good tonight. This guy is a NFL player.

Wide Receivers: B
Need to start breaking plays but made most the possession type passes. They were solid but nothing special. Oh and Briscoe sucks. We need a new guy as our #3.
Runnings Backs: B+
Creer will be a good speed back who can break plays. I think he should take over the #2 spot. Foster is a great powerback and showed why he's #1. With Foster, Coker, and Creer we should have a great RB corps.
Offensive Line: B+
I feel they had a very good game, but I dont know how talented Southern Miss's D-Line was. They pass protected well and were also fairly good in the run blocking.

Offense Overall: B+
Put up good numbers. I dont like the whole Tebow or WR at QB thing, because thats not Tennessee football and it hasnt been working for us, but other than that playcalling was alright.

Defensive Line: B-
Williams is looking good at that tackle spot. We cold still use more out of Bolden and more pass rush but it was a decent night for them

Linebackers: C
Rico played better 2nd half after a terrible first half. Who knows what happend to Mayo. Ryan Karl was solid.

Defensive Backs: D+
A bad QB threw it on us. We really need to step up our game in our secondary. Berry and Johnson busted a coverage that led to a long touch down. Both seemed to think it was the other guys man.

OVERALL: B
We improved somewhat on tackling. Secondary is a mess but the offense has been great so far. Need better play calling from Cutcliff. We played decent but if were gonna beat Florida next week were are gonna have to grow up fast.

The Crompton call was Crompton's fault. He had enough blocking to get the few yards he needed, but he went outside to try and run over two guys. He needs to realize he isn't Tebow and he can't run over people, follow your blocking young man.

I didnt think the line had a big enough push for him to get the yards he needed. I think he would have still come up short, but staying inside would have given him a chance. I dont know if he can run guys over as good either anymore since he's lost about 10 lbs. I think they should have put Foster back there and have him take the snap and run it up the middle.

Wasn't it Third and 1? And I specifically remember him going to the outside for no reason and getting crushed, while the sneak would've given it to him.

AND I did in fact Deduct a minus from Ainge's A performance due to Crompton mistakes.
