Your first trip to Neyland??

Last game of season against Vandy in 1983. Reggie White has a big day and sets season sack record against Vandy. Sets all time season high at the time until Derrick Barnett. Tennessee whipped Vandy on this day. GBO

2000 Tennessee vs. Florida

Yep, that game. Introduced me to the real experience of being a Tennessee fan lol. Also created a fairly intense hatred of all things Gator (I was a Kentucky fan when I was a kid, yeah yeah I know blame my family not me). Neyland cured that Kentucky issue in about 15 minutes.
Yeahhh, that was my first game too 😭 We sat six rows up from the old Jumbotron (for those unfamiliar, it was orange with the "VOLS" letters on top) in the South end zone.... it was extremely rare for us to lose at Neyland back then, and when Gaffney made that "catch" we were all equal parts stunned and outraged. My 10 year old self developed a hatred for those jort-wearing ****ers that day, and it has lasted my entire life since then.

My second game at Neyland was 8 years after the "Gaffney catch" in 2008 as a freshman in college; it was the UAB game the week after the UCLA overtime stunner. I sat there for the entire game, and even though we won 35-3 I left knowing that Tebow and the Gators were gonna kick our ass the next week. Sadly, I was right.

11/10/01 v Memphis - W 49-28

I think it was section Z - lower, surrounded by old timers.

I went to Neyland late in my UT football watching career.

Tennessee vs Southern Cal- 1980

17-20
I was there for that one. We (my brothers & I) had little league football games in Kingston that day. We’re from Lenoir City. As soon as my oldest brother’s game ended we headed to Nathand. We changed clothes in the parking lot.

USC was loaded that year. Lost on a last second FG. I was 8.
