I always enjoyed history in school and have recently gotten back into it..

Who are your favorite authors? Ideally, objective/down the middle, but, if not, then leaning a bit to the right..

I am especially interested in America history, and also British to an extent... civil war, too...

Howard Zinn's A People's History of the United States... if you are wanting some right leaning stuff.. this would be perfect for you.

I had the chance to attend a dinner where David McCullough spoke just before the John Adams series aired on HBO. He's a good writer and a better speaker, even if he does have a bias that past generations are inherently better than current.

I have only read one of McCullough's books, 1776, and I was not impressed. I have heard great things concerning his biography of Adams, however, I doubt I will ever read it.
