Your Biggest UT rival....and why

Some questions in a few threads about "rivals."
To me, it depends on how you define a "rivalry."

Who is yours, and why.

Mine is Vanderbilt. I hate UF more, but the in-state aspect, the embarrassment of losing to them, their hatred of UT, and the fact UT's greatest coach was hired for one reason...beat Vandy

I hate Bama, but no where close to the way I despise Fl. I voted for GA cause we occasionally beat them, we recruit GA heavily, and I have tons of relatives there who harass me unmercifully.

Having been a Vols fan for over 60 years - as long as I can remember - and my dad being one before that, Alabama has always been "the" game of the year. Many would say its no longer a rivalry because Tennessee's 15 year slump has corresponded with Saban's tenure at Bama and we haven't beaten them since 2006. And I get that particularly for younger fans, but the third Saturday in October was almost a holiday when I was growing up. So many memories of great games . And its was a Nationally important game most years. Here's one example:

There are many others - Stabler throwing the ball out of bounds not realizing it was 4th down and preserving a 7-7 tie. Hearing about my old High School coaches ( I had moved on to college) getting drunk and making an impromptu road trip to Birmingham to see us put a whopping on them in 1969. Being in Birmingham in 1983 and watching Johnny Jones run. for the victory.

Its easy to forget that before the current Bama streak this series was virtually tied all time. Anyway just a vote for Bama from an old guy! GBO whop the cats!

Florida, I am an old guy and I remember the "Bama Hate" days , but since Spurrier came to FL and that really turned into a rivalry, I dislike FL the most.

Younger crowd will pick Florida, older typically Bama. I’m young I’m 28 but I absolutely despise Alabama despise every sport they have despise every NFL player they have including Derrick Henry I hate the entire state anytime I have to enter it I feel disgusted they’re the piss stain of the south I mean this from the bottom of my heart frick them

I choose Bama.

When I was a kid and up until recently I hated Florida the most, but since I have really educated myself on Tennessee football history and my hatred for Alabama has leaped over that of Florida's.

They are our true rival.

I also hate the talk "we havent won so it's not a rivalry"

In the freaking SEC every damn game is a rivalry. We all have enough hate for everybody.

I live close enough to throw a rock into Alabama and Ga. Have more kin in Ga. So I hate them a tad more.

Alabama because I know Tennessee's history. Florida only became relevant in the SEC in the '60s.

It will always be Bama for me despite the long losing streak. The third game I saw live with my dad was Bama at Legion Field in 1967. We had some epic games with them and we will again.

I’ve never understood why UGA didn’t seem to catch on as a rival the way Florida did. They’re a lot closer. It’s a border game. They’re more of a recruiting threat. Most people in Tennessee probably know a few more Georgia fans than they do Florida.

Not Bama for me. For as long as I’ve been watching it’s hardly been a rivalry. Dominated by TN early and then quickly flipped to Bama dominance.

Florida is a better rivalry for me except on the scorecard. The implications are bigger than against a team from the west. We’ve been more competitive w Georgia over the years I’ve been watching but I just don’t care about them as much for some reason. Maybe because Florida has always been scheduled early in the season and my hopes are always high. Win that game and sets a tone for the season and puts the SECE within reach

Alabama...Period...I hate them, Always hated them...Hate the fact they got Saban, Hate the fact they are so good, Hate the fact they have won so many titles and currently own us and the rest of the SEC...Did I mention I hate them?...There is no victory I savor more than Alabama.

Sort of… I have history with that game and it’sa little bit of a running joke. But if you go back and look at the scores of those games in the past 20 years, it’s been remarkably competitive.

Georgia because we've been competitive with them over the years. And I live 30 minutes outside of Athens and I hate grown men barking! Gbo!
