I was shocked when I found out that Slick Shelley, the highly recruited tall wideout from Arkansas, has appeared as one of the top 100 wideouts in college statistically.......

He now plays for Tulsa, and has posted some decent numbers for a guy who "couldn't get any separation."

Here are his numbers this year:
100 Slick Shelley, Tulsa WR JR 4 12 232 3 3.00 19.33 58.00

He's catching an average of 3 passes a game, at a clip of 19.33 yards so far.........just really makes you wonder if PLAYER DEVELOPMENT is a big problem for UT.........

I was trying to check out the Tulsa game (just browsing back and forth). I never saw him on the field. There were too many good games on to focus on that one though.

Developement or lack of it is a huge issue here...has been for many years. Look no further than Crompton.

Fulmers biggest weakness is conservatism, 2nd...lack of fundamentals, 3rd...lack of development. Fulmers strength has always been recruiting...putting better players on the field than the other team and winning...unless that it was UF in the past were talent wise we were equal yet got out coached. Now days...we've still got talent just not 3 deep at every position...Fulmer can't simply over power everyone anymore and his lack of coaching ability and decision making is shining through.

Player Development is awful. Let's look at Foster. Has he improved since is Fr. year. not really. How a/b the O-Line starters. Most of them haven't. Robert Ayers/Demonte Bolden have been the same since their Soph year it seems like. The player development is absolutely awful.

The list would be huge if you were to look at all the highly rated players who came here and regressed.

Show me a WR in Tulsa's system that isn't putting up some numbers and I'll show you one that has barely sniffed the field.

The fact is we really never have a "talent" issue, it's all development. Classic example is last nights game with NI. On "Paper" this should've been no contest. The last couple of years NI has had a recruiting class rated below "100"! The 2007 class was rated "117"! We have 2nd and even 3rd stringers that could start for most teams out there.
