You thought the hiring of Butch Jones was going to be a disaster, and...

You laughed out loud when Coach Jones said he would assemble the "best coaching staff in the country.", and...

You complained to anyone who would listen, when you learned DeBord would be the OC...

I must admit that I like the sexy hire as much as anyone, but I also remember when coach Fulmer was promoted to head coach. Not sure everyone was thrilled with that...And it took quite some time before many thought Coach Pearl was more than a bumbling idiot...

I just know that you have to give people a chance. It may not fit our idea of a good hire, but you never know what really makes a team come together, unless you are there on a day to day basis. Sometimes it really is more than just a bunch of really talented people coming together. Sometimes it really does need to be just the right fit. JMO :hi:

A lot of this is just part of the recovery process from contracting Doolebola.

Fulmer hire was pretty popular. They didn't have message boards, but it was very popular, rightfully so.

No offense, but CPF got promoted after coaching a few games and winning while CJM was ill. When CJM came back he lost and got canned. The CFP came back and put a coin into the parking meter

(it ran out in 03-05)

You might be a sunshine pumper if...

You start thread a complaining about Negavols

You start every sentence with " you never coached"

You rebuttal with " I know you are, but what am I"

You think every coach that gets hired by UT is the next one to bring UT back

Despite numerous attempts, you can't get the brown off your nose

It was popular I guess, since he got to audition, but many people talked about qualifications, and getting a coach with head coaching experience. It was nice that he had a good relationship with current players, but how did we know if he could recruit a single good player, being an unknown and all...etc...Many naysayers predicted doom for the long term.

Please bookmark your post so you can come back in a year and call these negavols out.

I swear I read the same crybaby posts when Butch was hired. Again when bajakian called a WTF call during the season.

Apparently, these posters won't be happy until they are on the field calling plays.

Flame away.... Lol.

I remember it the same. Fulmer came in as interim coach and won every game including some upsets. Then, Majors came back mid-season and lost a couple of games that we should have won.

Now, when Chavis was promoted to defensive coordinator, there was moaning and gnashing of teeth because we didn't make a well-known hire.

Honestly, by some people's standards around here you would be considered a negavol. You see that line about giving the coach a chance makes you guilty. You have to believe in the coach unquestionably in order to avoid the negavol label. The term "give them a chance" infers that there is a possibility of failure. This means you have an agenda. This means you want them to fail.

You cant fool me.

I remember it as he smacked around Florida, players loved him, he was getting HC offers, Majors was digging himself deeper, and fans wanted Fulmer. Sure there were naysayers, and they may have had valid points, but I recall a ton of enthusiasm for the hire

What about lines two and three aren't laughable?

Well, I am sure that everyone would have preferred more wins, but by far the biggest need was in recruiting. Second, was maybe to re-energize the program, and keep the fan base involved until the wins started accumulating again. I would give the coaching staff an A+ on those counts.

Now, I would agree with anyone that it is now time for results on the field - not in 2016, but in 2015. I think the team took a major step at the end of this year, and I see no reason to believe that there won't be another big step in 2015. Maybe not even winning the East, but at least competing for it.

Considering where we came from, I believe a case could be made that anyone short of Saban or Gruden would not have turned us around any quicker. So, while there may be differences of opinion, I don't think it is laughable any more. If you still do, then you might be a...

This post is BS. Were you actually on the Hill when Fulmer took over? I was, and there weren't any "naysayers predicting doom." Fulmer was "the anointed one". He had everyone's support in the '90's.
