Miami has never beat anyone with schemes or coaching on the defensive side of the ball.

They are traditionally as vanilla as it gets. They play a base 4-3, man underneath with two safeties over the top since man discovered fire.

They never back out of it. Ever. No matter how well you run the ball, they dont drop an 8th guy in the box. They rarely blitz.

They just challenge you and dictate their guys are bettee than your guys, except when they aren't. When they have had extraordinary talent, you are helpless. When they haven't, their defenses are relatively easy to pick apart because they dont fool anyone.

You could have made a game plan in 2006 from film in 1986the and you would have been prepared.

Just my two cents before anything happens

Any DC that constantly kept his defenses top 10 every year I want. No matter what scheme he runs. Plus we need a coach with discipline and that's something we don't have. I want him bad.

In 2005 and 2006 there were only 4 games that an offense scored more than 20 points. It cant be that bad

Shannon is a great Coordinator. Not Head Coach.

You can go back to Gator land now. I hear it's quite busy over there with problems of their own.

This lead to this:

During Shannon's six years as UM's defensive coordinator, his defenses ranked as follows in total defense nationally:
2001 – 6th
2002 – 7th
2003 – 2nd
2004 – 28th
2005 – 4th
2006 – 7th

Let's say you're right. Chavis never beat anyone with schemes or coaching either, as far as I know, but he was pretty good when he had superior talent, like he does now down on the bayou. And I'm willing to bet Shannon is at least as good as Chavis on the coaching front, and far better as a recruiter. You can't overlook the recruiting angle when you're at UT, and Shannon would be very good from that standpoint.

And then he also has this rumored little issue...

100% agree. Get the talent first; makes coaching a helluva lot easier.
