Its simple. the line has been drawn. Do you stand with the University of Tennessee or with Phil Fulmer?
I for one, am hoping that this is the end for Fulmer. His time has come, his time has gone. No matter what the excuses are...poor QB play, Running Banks not raising their elbows high enough, high definition television, gas prices, El Nino, whatever...the head coach is the constant in this equation: Phil Fulmer. And yes, I am ready for the "rebuilding" that so many here and other boards claim MUST happen if we get rid of Fulmer. I am ready for the 4-8 or 3-9 season under a new coach if it happens. Why? Because at least with the new coach...I have hope for the future. With Fulmer, I know that the best it will get, is an appearance in the SEC Championship game, IF THAT. I know that 8-4/9-3 can and just might happen, but it doesnt matter to me, because 10-2 and a BCS game or 11-1 and a legitimate shot at the big dance is out of the question. Im ready for the lean years, just hurry the hell up and give them to me.
I have no personal vendetta against Fulmer. I do not HATE him, and therefore want him gone. I want him gone because he cannot do the job up up to the level that the SEC has ascended to. It is over, so move the hell on. Now is not the time for those to rally behind Fulmer because he is a good ole Tennessee boy, or is honest to recruits, or we owe it to him...or anything else stupid like that. If you want to stand behind Fulmer, the CEO of a multi-million dollar enterprise, do it because you think he can get the job done.
I think he cannot, I think he will not and I think that the time has come to move in another direction. The diploma on my wall, the ring on my finger says "The University of Tennessee" not "The University of Fulmer, keep him because he is an honest, good ole boy, won us a championship 10 years ago, it aint his fault we aint gots enough black people to recruit in Tennessee...blah blah blah."
So choose up sides Vol fans and Fulmer fans, its going to be a bumpy ride.
