It's a trick question. A great coach would take what the defense gives them. There's a ton of game left at that point. The fact that we're up by three is irrelevant at that point in the game. A great coach would attack. If the defense loads the box to stop the run, they'd throw the ball down the field. Every time until the defense adjusts. But it's a trick question because you said "you are butch". We've all seen enough of butch to know exactly what he'll do. He'll run into that box. And punt. He'll be content to give up possessions and play it safe. It sucks that we have a guy with that mentality at the helm. But what can we do as fans? I'll always root for us to win. I just know we'll never win big with that guy.
I hate the way these decisions are made. We hired a guy that had been fired from his last ad job, and basically just said go make this hundred million plus a year decision. And he made a cowardly decision. It was a safe, cowardly decision to go get an average coach from a small conference. It's the safe play because that coach doesn't cost 6 million a year plus. You get that guy for just under 4. The gutsy decision was to gather up all the boosters and get the most money he could come up with, and throw it all at the biggest name out there. That's what bama did, that's what Ohio state did, that's what Michigan did. Those programs have given us a blue print for hiring a coach. But we did the safe thing. Hurray. Safe
