Yes. Storm the field if we defeat UGA (Go Vols)

I've said it before, you can't plan whether to rush the feild or not. It'll happen organically or it won't. The student section isn't going to care what us old heads think is appropriate or not.
Exactly. I was a student in '98 and didn't give a **** what anyone thought after the missed field goal attempt.

The fine for storming the field should be $1,000,000 - $100,000(# of consecutive years you have lost to the team).
If a team has beaten you 10+ years in a row - no charge for storming the field.

Why?
They’ve won the SEC and National Championship.twice in the past 5 years.

I hate their fan base. They have no class.
But they’ve still OWNED Tennessee the past 9 years.

I admit, it doesnt “feel” right. But for Heupel this is huge. I think it opens up everything if we can beat these dudes. All doubts about Heupel will be hushed.
So you want to cost the university a bunch more money?!?...This would be the third time and it would cost a ton of money and every penny of it goes to UGA...Yeah lets help them get more great players instead of keeping that money and acting like we have been there before and get our own blue chippers...Make sense?

We keep bringing up storming as a visiting team because it’s always fun to stick it to Sankey, who is a moron. He made a rule that could punish the wrong team.

However, I can’t imagine what would happen if visiting fans did this at Neyland. “Do unto others.” Meaning the only way to get away with this if the other team doesn’t have fans to retaliate at our stadium (Vanderbilt).

Beating UGA is absolutely bring the goal posts down kind of victory. Especially if it's GameDay and the game is the most watched of the weekend. The recruiting advantage alone would be special. Coach Heupel is on a run recruiting, beating UGA would only help in getting UT to a top 5 class again. That Alabama win in 2022 was talked about by non sports fans, let it happen again for UGA.

No... we should be expected to compete and win these types of games on occasion. We don't need to be storming the field now...we are part of that elite group, we should act like it.

Plus I don't want to give Georgia any money to pay more players from the penalty of storming the field.

I’m not a fan of storming the field as it shows undue respect to the opponent.

However, I would gladly take a field storming IF AND ONLY IF the Woo in Rocky Top disappeared forever!

I think that’s a fair trade. 😎👍🏻
I know you know this but obviously you need help.

There comes a time in a man's life when he must.....lol, just kidding.

Hate the woo brother but I gave in. I'm closer to 70 than I am 40 and fighting something that ain't going away ain't worth it no moe.

But keep fighting the fight!!

Woo!

The UGA/ UT game our numbers/record is 28 to 23 with 2 ties, I remember back around 2001 talking to UGA fans at Calhoun's before game. They said we just cant beat UT they have our number. If we had traditionally played them like we do Bama and Vandy I believe we would have a big lead but the last 20 years has not been good for UT and we are just now coming off sanctions from all these blundering coaches pre Heupel. I hope if we win we don't storm. I predict if its a close game and goes down to holding them or scoring on the last possession it will be a storm. If we win in 2 TD fashion I think it will not be a storm the field.

This team they have this year is as talented as their 2022 team.

We have so many injuries that I don’t think we can beat them.

It would take a miracle and yes ABSOLUTELY storm the field.
I am just going to have to disagree with this post. A lot.

There is no Jalon Carter or Brock Bowers on UGA this year. Those 2 guys were arguably the 2 of the 5 best players in all of College Football in 2022 and I would argue 2 of the best overall college football players of the 2020's. If I am building a list of the top 20 college football players since 2020, both of those guys are on it. 2022 UGA also had a young Jalon Walker and Mykell Williams (both 1st round picks this year) and an entire secondary of 1st and 2nd round DBs.

UGA is super talented yet again. They again have several future 1st rounders. In terms of overall talent, there isn't much of a drop off between 2022 to now. But at this time, I don't see anyone I would put close to Carter's or Bower's level. Those 2 were really special players.

People, please have some self respect and not embarrass us by running on to the field just cuz we beat Georgia. Beating them isn’t like ‘98 Or ‘22. Those games, yes.
This? Good Lord No.

Do you really want to put your ugly Nuevo Riche neighbor up on a pedestal like that?

Trust me, it’ll hurt a lot worse if you don’t rush the field.

They are just Georgia. They ain’t worth it.

I know this an inherent insult to say, but I live in the here and now.
Heupel is 0-4 against UGA as UTs coach.
Georgia has won 9 straight?? They’ve been the dominant program in all of college football imo the last 10 years.

They have a QB that can run and throw.
They have 2 of the most explosive players that ever suited up for Bishop Gorman and Mater Dei starting. Zach Branch and the RB.
Their line averages 6’6 330 and 3rd year.

Defense…
NB (5 star)
FS (5 star)
NT (5 Star)
ILB (5 star)
and bunch of other talented guys in their two deep. CJ Allen. Chris Cole. A bunch of dudes.

If we beat them then we should absolutely storm the field
No, we if want to be an elite programs, winning games like this should start becoming normal. Everytime we storm the field it makes us look like a weak program that won a game that weren’t supposed too.

No…this mentality has to stop at some point. If we want the players to believe they are equal to their opponents, we need to stop collectively putting our opponents on a pedestal. We should expect to win, and be surprised when we don’t…not when we do. We would have never dreamed of rushing the field in the 90’s.

I am glad the wifi in Neyland has been upgraded. Now, the crowd of 100k+ can collectively consult this thread on whether they should storm the field. 😏

The game clock slowly ticks towards zero. The hard fought win of UT against UGA is inevitable. A palpable exuberance permeates the stadium. Electricity surges though orange veins. Thankfully, cool heads consult VN. Frantically they search for instruction on what they should do. They hold back the celebratory crowd from setting foot on Shields-Watkins. Crises averted.

The summer of 2022 I remember telling my daughter there are a lot of things to do and not to do in college, and I remember ending that conversation with "and if you get the chance to storm the field absolutely do it"
Little did I know she would get her chance that third saturday in October and we were also there to witness it. My Wife and I did not storm the field like so many others, I feel like that should be a student/ very young adult thing. The 40 & 50 years trying to rush last year against Alabama was embarrassing.

Said all that to say this, a few weeks ago I had the same conversation with my son as he is now a freshman at UT and the Georgia game is on his Birthday.

so you just never know.

So since the recruiting run is going so well before we even play Georgia; and we then BEAT Georgia (increasing recruiting success accordingly); why shoot ourselves in the foot by storming the field and giving the defeated puppies several hundred thousands more in NIL money to wins some of those recruits back?
We belong at the top. Now let’s act like it is our birthright; not a once in a decade miracle. Just my two cents worth (even though the U.S. just stopped producing pennies of course)

Someone could have their Doctorate and still not have witnessed UT win against UGA.

The students ABSOLUTELY will rush the field if the Vols win.
