Two St Pete officers shot and killed today while trying to serve a warrant. Guy shoots up Detroit police station. Guy shot I think it was three or four deputies last week in Miami. Tuscon shooter.

And on it goes. Good thing, though, that in the event we are invaded by Canada all those guys will be part of their state's militia.

The three law enforcement officers are among at least 10 shot in the last 24 hours nationwide. Four officers were shot at a Detroit, Michigan, police precinct Sunday. Two Kitsap County, Washington, sheriff's deputies were shot at a Walmart in the town of Port Orchard. And an Indianapolis, Indiana, a police officer was critically injured Sunday in a shooting during a traffic stop.

So the offenders were all licensed gun owners with legal firearms?

I can say as a matter of statistical fact that if there were fewer guns there would be fewer opportunities for this to occur.

no you can't. You can say something that tries to draw that conclusion, but would do it with some shoddy math and bad assumptions.

Blame the car, not the drunk driver. Let's all go back to riding horses while we're at it.

Irrelevant. They used guns. Most, if not all, illicitly owned guns started off as legally owned at some point in their lives.
So if you eliminate the new products/ammo the bad guys won't be able to acquire....I simply don't buy it.

C'mon counselor....

You can do better than arguing the intended purpose for an inanimate object. Show some respect.

exactly. Breaking the link from the arseholes who would shoot another and the guns is the issue. Assuming that said arseholes won't find guns is absurd.

If they are running drugs....they will have firearms. This will do nothing more than set up another blackmarket war for the govt. We can call it "The War on Firearms".

Fewer guns = less chance down the line that a thug will have one. Its simply a fact.

The argument that the horse is out of the barn isn't very appealing to the deputy's family killed 10 years from now by one made and bought next year.

And believe it or not there are people who insist that "open carry" would prevent these things. Irrational.

I mean no disrespect to the deputy in saying this, but here is the thing. You sign up for the military there is a chance you are going to be shot at. You sign up for duty as a police office/deputy, there is a chance you will be shot at.

Coke is illegal. I don't know anybody that wants it who cannot get their hands on it when they want it badly enough. You stop gun sales and the exact same thing will happen.

On top of that we will fill the jails with 17 year olds busted for buying guns for nothing more than a cheap thrill. It will be as successful in filling the prisons as the war on drugs.

Irrelevant. The point of a handgun is to shoot someone. That is its sole purpose.

ridiculous. you think that if there were fewer guns that people who have bad intentions still couldn't find a way to get them? if you think that the "bad guys" couldn't get guns then you're on crack
