I’m sure this will be an unpopular take but I don’t care anymore. This saturday was the first time since Pruitt and Dooley years that I’ve felt completely numb and just beyond tired of the same lousy performances we’ve seen under Huepel. I don’t care that Texas was ranked #1, I am beyond tired of hearing that Faizon is 18 years old but most of all I’m beyond sick and tired of Huepels team always having an excuse. Last year it was the defense being abysmal, year before was Nico wasn’t any good and now It’s we have a freshman QB with an awful O-Line. I know that sounds negative but it’s just the reality at this point. Just because we aren’t as bad as the Dooley or Pruitt teams, doesn’t mean our fan base has to settle for mediocrity. There is no serious football program who contends for championships that has the red flags Huepel is showing and has BEEN showing. At some point, Tennessee fans have every right to be tired of being told to be patient. We’ve been patient. We’ve supported this program through some of the worst years imaginable, and we STILL show up every MF Saturday.
We spend the money.. we pack Neyland,
we support this program through EVERYTHING. And time and time again, we’re the ones left disappointed.

I question a lot of the roster decisions/ staff decisions every year and they seem to always be proven right on the field. We need an administration and coaching staff willing to do whatever it takes to win in today’s college football.
There is ZERO excuse for Tennessee to be in a position where we have to start a true freshman QB and then allow him to get sacked 10 times. I don’t care how good the other team’s defensive line is. Ten sacks is actually insulting to our fan base.

We are in an era where its results driven. Every year is a new year. Can’t bank on guys coming back or building for the future in this landscape. Our team shouldn’t have the holes in this roster that we do in year 6. We also shouldn’t lead the league or come close to leading the league in penalties every season. I’m just rambling at this point but I don’t know where we go from here…I’m just tired of the mediocre results

It’s probably not different. Just saying what I feel
So, we lost a game all of us had as a loss. As bad as we played, we still had a shot against the number 1 team, and what, you want him fired? What are you wanting exactly? Yeah, it’s disappointing to lose, but go look at the predictions threads, pretty much everyone had us losing 3-4 games this season, nobody predicted undefeated. You rather go back to these games being blowouts? Some of you are just wild in your thinking. That’s just how I feel.

Idk what i’m “wanting” just sick of the same **** every year. Most will still say the freshman. It’s a loser mentality to look for excuses for losing before you actually do. The freshman QB and new DC was going to the be the excuse for losing all along. They’ll have a new excuse next season. Some of our fan base is simply thinking like losers. These same people I remember defending Butch and Pruitt up until the very end

When someone shows you who they are, you better believe them. My feeling is this is what Huepel is unfortunately, a mediocre coach

The problem is Heupel is not getting better as a game day coach. Not learning from his mistakes, and especially when to use his TO's. We couldn't get 15 yards to get into field goal range. Pathetic

It's not the same excuses and nobody's making any excuses. Yesterday was all about how inexcusably atrocious the offensive line was. 10 sacks bro. And I'm kind of sick of hearing how a freshman "took" some of the sacks. If the offensive lineman did their job then there would not be the defensive lineman right in our quarterback's face having him take a sack or not. This is squarely on the offensive line completely

6 years is a long time but in these 6 years we ended losing streaks to both Florida and Bama . I know that's not a high bar, but it's something. And for comparison what is the Vols win-loss in the time period from firing Fulmer to hiring CJH ?
( apologies , I didn't read your entire post, way too long and felt like I've read it before )
My point ??? = Have a better coach in the wings before you fire the old coach who was good but can't win it all

I can’t disagree and feel your frustration.

Can someone explain how Sumrall has a better QB in year 1 than Heupel has in year 6.
He isn’t that good at evaluating QBs if we’re being honest. He chose Milton over Hooker, Nico wasn’t good, lucked into Aguilar being the only QB available. Faizon is young so we’ll see but it’s not off to the best start

Heupel was hired to get Tennessee back into the middle of the conference year in and year out, he was hired by his former athletic director when nobody even wanted the job and we had overpaid for mediocrity for years.

Heupel was not hired to go from worst to first and does not have the top shelf seasoned and experienced coordinators, with the exception of Knowles, to get the program into the top tier of the two or three teams capable of winning the conference year in and year out. Much of his approach to the game is still through UCF lenses, with limited experiences in the SEC before coming to Tennessee. Sarkesian got to Texas the same year Heupel got to Tennessee, but with head coaching experience at USC and Washington, time under Saban and time in the NFL with the Raiders and the Falcons. Muschamp made Elarbee and Halzle look pedestrian yesterday, but the experience, talent and proven ability in the coordinator ranks does make a big difference.

Sumerall has fire. Confidence. Bravado.

His team is playing like his personality.

And so is ours. I think that is the real answer.

In 21 and 22, Josh was a MFer, but has softened along the way.

Maybe but I feel like people will defend Huepel no matter what atp
I don't think people will defend him no matter what, I personally have been a critic and a fan of his at times, but the big picture is people need to be careful what they wish for. Look around the SEC... Oklahoma, Auburn, Arkansas, A&M etc. Not saying there's not room for improvement, I am just saying the grass isn't always greener.

Stay supporting Heup as the messiah when he hasn’t evolved any as a head coach. When we constantly have a lost looking coach on game day. When we continue to be undisciplined every year. Always works out to.
He’s far from the messiah
2-9 in last 11 vs. top 25 SEC opponents.
1-4 in our last 5 SEC games in Neyland

If you don’t care then keep this 💩 to yourself.
This year 6 mess no longer applies with NIL.
Players come and go at the drop of $20.
