Excerpt from the portion on Pruitt "...He just doesn’t have the quarterback or the offense – Tennessee still wants to play bully ball– to compete with the elite programs. That’s on Pruitt. Right now, he’s making the Butch Jones era look like the good ole’ days in Knoxville. "

A lot of those coaches in that article were on all of our list for the TN job. I wanted Mullen to come to TN, but Frost was a close second and Chip Kelly's name came up a lot. Look at the record of Frost and Chip Kelly, it is not good and Frost is at his alma-matter and still could not get it done. We are not great but we could be so much worse off. Pruitt has at least brought in talent to the roster and the team can be great if Bailey or Salter become a good QB.

I am not sold on Pruitt but I just feel we cannot get on the coaching carousel this year and get a quality coach. No one wants to come to a school that will not even let you have 3 full recruiting classes before you are fired.

He’s also 0-6 against ranked teams the last two years, and none of those games have been decided by 13 or fewer points. Pruitt has the needed talent with the Volunteers ranking 15th in the 247Sports Team Talent Composite. He just doesn’t have the quarterback or the offense – Tennessee still wants to play bully ball– to compete with the elite programs. That’s on Pruitt. Right now, he’s making the Butch Jones era look like the good ole’ days in Knoxville

Literally the lowest bar possible for a HC is to be better than the guy you replaced, even Butch was able to attain that level of success.
