I can't even keep a straight face and post this, us and them are worlds apart as far as coaching goes. I don't think they would have laid down in the NIT, they seem to have alot more heart and character than our team

I thought they did away with the VFL crap after Jay Graham went to FSU. I am just making an honest observation that is all. You can tell me that the BBall team has shown they are "VFL" material, I would suggest raising the bar on membership then. You CCM man crush posters on here need to be prepared if he don't get it done next year, I am sick of the excuses.
OP isn't a VFL

Yeah, I'm pretty sure hindsight isn't allowed. For the most blatantly obvious reason in the history of mankind.

I agree with you. I'm tired of excuses as well. If we aren't good next year, then I'll be good and done with Cuonzo. I'll gladly go on the record with that.

And yes, the VFL thing is stupid.

Sorry buds, as long as the excuses are legitimate, I'm going to keep using them. Ignoring context for the sake of judging by absolutes is horribly inefficent.

Well I agree with that, too. I'm a big advocate of that mindset, actually. People on this board ignore context far too often IMO and it pisses me off. Like the whole "Martin hasn't made the tourney" when he just as easily could have made it this year AND came into a really bad situation last year.

Yeah, just because I am tired of the excuses doesn't mean I don't think they are valid. They ARE valid excuses.

But when you're winning, you don't need excuses. That's also true.

i was listening to will and josh on the radio today and one of them made an argument for why mtsu got into the tourney over us being that they beat us in the NIT last year. They also went on to say that Cbp had built up some sort of favor with the committee with there showing in the tourney. what is your opinion on those arguments?

Well first off, if the committee is looking at games from last season and using them to determine who makes this season's tournament, then frankly they are doing it wrong. A tourney berth is earned or lost through your play in that particular season. Nothing more and nothing less. That's the idea behind a 'tournament resume.'

As for the Pearl thing, I have no idea if that's true or not. I'd like to think that no coach or team could build up favor among the selection committee, but I doubt that's the case. That very well could be true IMO. It wouldn't surprise me.

I tend to believe the sweat equity thing with Pearl, kinda makes sense. If i needed a contractor for a job there resume would affect my decision, I wouldn't hire a guy to do my landscaping if he hadn't shown any pride in his work simply mowing my lawn.

When did it become a "hashtag" anyway? What happened to pound sign or symbol? Just curious.

Back to the OP, I think Minnesota got the nod due to the Big 10 being strong this year and they beat Indiana.

As far as the committee using last year's UT/ MTSU I would bet it came up in the discussion as far as looking for any excuse to give the mid-majors a nod.

Let's be real here. No we do not deserve to be in the NCAA tourney over anyone. The way we played at times this year. And just laid down in the NIT game at home. That's just bad. :eek:hmy::no:

As long as you're prepared to give him next season before the decision....because he's getting it...I think your frustration is the major consensus on Cuonzo..his two teams at Tennessee have laid down early, rebounded and played some good ball towards the late middle or end of the season...tanked in the SEC tourney and never showed up for the NIT. I hope he bucks the trend next year or he's gone

Tennessee did not earn a spot in the big dance....soooooooooo it is time to move on and hope they improve next year.

OP is right we didn't deserve to get in and a lot of us know it now after Mercer. #End of story

The Mercer game has nothing to do if we should have gotten in the NCAAT. How do folks not understand this?

As Jay Bilas said about VCU a couple of years ago, just because they went to the Final Four doesn't mean they deserved to be in. It's about your résumé.
