Go look at the stats. She's 12-19 from the field for a team high .632 average (not counting Wynn's 1-1 season). Civil is 3-4 from three for a team high 75%. Jaida leads the team in FT% at .875 (again, not counting Wynn's one made FT) after going 7-8 in her first three games. She is tied for second with Nya Robertson with 7 assists (only one fewer than Tay who has 8). Civil is also rock-solid in rebounds and steals.

It's waaaaaaay too early to anoint Jaida a bonafide star -- as she WILL have awful games in the future because, hell, even Chamique and Tamika and Candace had awful games -- but so far this kid is showing real grit and nearly all positives.

Sure, she has a bit of a focus problem, but that can be overcome with more experience and if the staff recognizes they need to put extra effort into keeping her focused during games. If I were the head coach I would literally make it someone's primary job during games to keep both Jaida AND Tay on focus. They both need 'extra" there which, IMO, kinda makes sense given they share similar instincts.

I could not be happier with Civil than I am. What a joy!

to agree and reframe in my words, there are many offensive possessions that the ball is being passed without purpose, as if who will make the decision and when. No reason for off ball players to cut or to set a screen or even to demand the ball. No vocal direction or the head motion . All will come with more time, coaching and games. (and observation from watching film)
